“As technology brings us closer to one another it becomes more obvious that compassion as a catalyst for exercising love is the single most important characteristic to be nurtured by any society. It is the trait of harmonious coexistence, preventing and stopping war and bloodshed, helping the poor and broken, mending dispute and also spiritual insight. It is the responsibility of all in society who work with shaping people to promote and strengthen compassion and love in one another, to encourage greater understanding and tolerance and to praise helpful and unselfish acts of love. This is of utmost importance in any society otherwise bloated with heated critique, self-importance and ignorance of one another, elements that breed disruptive, harmful and hurting experiences not only on an individual plane, but also on the societal.”

“We, the people of the world, should strive to show compassion for all those we meet. We as a race should take care of those less fortunate than us so that we, as a race, can better ourselves. If we all took the time to do one act of compassion each day, the world would be a much safer place for us, and the people we care about. We must not allow our differences to prevent us from seeing that which can bring us together. In this world, where a person can communicate with someone millions of miles away, we cannot afford to stay ignorant of our fellow human beings.”

“Religion is simply different ideas of how God manifests himself to us. We must all endeavour to understand these different revelations of God and hence come to the common understanding that the one thing we can all agree about God is that he is not evil or hate, but that he is love and thus we should also be love. Governments must abandon the notion that secularism means we deny God a presence. Because some people believe in God and its potency, we should all pay it some attention for the primary purpose of understanding. All children should be compelled or at the very least encouraged to learn about all other faiths to create the understanding and tolerance that enables the crux of religion to arise in us; Love Good, hate evil. Remember, the common understanding of Evil we have is simple: evil is what we would never wish to happen to ourselves. Good is the light of God or positive forces in us that enables us to show good will and compassion; that allows us to recognise the value of the human being.”

“Pity is for passers-by; people observing and merely shrugging their shoulders. We dare not passively and ignorantly view one another. Empathy implies getting into one another’s shoes, drags, suits, houses, minds, and hearts.”

“Compassion is not a passive state—it moves us, and movement begets action. It is the act of wanting to make right, to make better, to make good, to hold, to comfort, to teach, to guide, to encourage all manner of life. Like a ripple in the water, compassion spreads. It moves through us to others and from them to others still; a true compass of the heart. To have compassion is to have to act—it is the beating heart that keeps the world, and us in it, alive.”
