My Acts of Compassion (2)

#144 16 find this inspirational

I was very young when I became pregnant. I was abandoned, became homeless and had no job. Friends and strangers from the neighborhood paid for food and a place for me to stay until I could pay for those things myself. My daughter is 25 yrs old now. I am forever grateful, they saved my life and hers

My Inspiration (9)

#174 Doing my best is a daily opportunity to recognize the nature of our true relationship with the One, and therefore each other. Beyond the Golden Rule: Do unto others…is the wisdom teaching: “love your neighbor as yourself.”  This is not saying LIKE yourself. But non-dual: AS yourself. We are One View site »

#148 Jessica will die in a few days from a cancerous brain tumor, she is 8 years old. Recently my 10 year old son, Jacob, wore a tuxedo for her Make a Wish-Princess Party in order to be her Prince Charming. He also gave a speech about how wonderful Jessica is and how special knowing her has been to him.

#135 My friend was a doctor in Zambia working on AIDS.  He came home with an idea:  Link U.S. communities with Zambian caretakers of orphans so the children could go to school.  I joined him and others to form Communities Without Borders. Now we are providing education for more than 1100 children. View site »

#108 As a Muslim studying Shria law, I couldn’t imagine that I would live with a Jewish host family in the UK for six weeks, sharing them their daily life and having my meals with them around one table, but I did it. people in Palestine, you can live together, you can do it, only with compassion !

#76 Winter, 3 am, me shivering on hard berth of an empty Indian Railways train on a siding. Footsteps. A stranger comes up. Leaves. The ticket inspector Was I busted? He returned with a warm blanket, tucked me in, left. Never saw his face. Next morning, I was at the Buddha’s birthplace, Lumbini.

#75 my 72 yr old neighbour thought he had arthritis. Turned out it was cancer. One night he called me and asked if I could stay over night to help. It was day 1 of my 4 week vacation. I stayed all 4 weeks until he passed on.

#70 I am an animal rescuer. I rescue dogs and cats from high kill shelters in Los Angeles county and do what I can to find them new homes. I am a firm believer in what Mahatma Gandhi said, “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”

#58 Old couple attended the Dalai Lama’s teaching. Next day, husband asked me to take care of his wife since he could not go. I did so. To express thanks they invited me to a private meeting w/the Dalai Lama. My dream came true from strangers. I cried for 20 min after being w/him. They were his friends.

#53 Our puppy, Emaho escaped the yard and ran to the ocean (foreign territory)  She swam miles.  Two sailors thought they saw a seal and found her struggling, about to drown.  One put her under his sweater and then took her home until I could be found.  Their cat sat beside her and comforted her.
