Our thoughts are with our friends in Gaziantep, Turkey, where a bombing killed 10 people, including 4 children, and wounded more than 60, on Monday. Gaziantep is first city in the Muslim world to declare itself a Compassionate City. Compassionate Action International Network Fellow Dr. Helen McConnell visited Gaziantep last year to welcome them as they formally adopted the Charter for Compassion.
Statement from Helen McConnell:
We must remember that all acts of terrorism have a history of deliberate and careful preparation, and we must, thus, not fail to ask the question "Why" in order to understand what led to the act. Only in this manner can we have hope of implanting compassion in the hearts of those whose only recourse was violence.
