25. Elizabeth Smith--Tree of Genetic Memory

25. Elizabeth Smith--Tree of Genetic Memory

Artist’s Note:

The Tree of Genetic Memory is inspired by the tree seen here growing on a Civil War Battlefield in Virginia.  I've been fascinated for years with the possibility of a genetic memory in humans and felt that, although this tree was not growing at the time of the battle, its roots still takes energy from the energy and bloodshed absorbed into the earth.  This is one of a series I based on this theme.  The branches are a series of labyrinths and endless knots to represent this 'inherited memory' of the tree.
