    About Music in Common
    February 26, 09:00am - 10:00am PT

Music In Common (MIC) is a non-profit organization that repairs the fractures dividing communities world wide. Our programs bring diverse youth and their communities together, empowering them against hate, through facilitated dialogue, collaborative songwriting, multimedia production, and performance. Since 2005, Music In Common has directly served thousands of people in more than 300 communities across the globe and across religious, ethnic, cultural, and racial sectors. The organization was founded by singer-songwriter and producer Todd Mack in response to the murder of his friend and bandmate, Daniel Pearl, the Wall St. Journal reporter abducted by terrorists in Pakistan in 2002.
MIC’s connection to MLK’s Legacy: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said “People hate each other because they fear each other. People fear each other, because they don’t know each other. People don’t know each other because they don’t communicate with each other.” Music in Common does the important work of dismantling hate through bringing together communities divided by fear, and creating space for them to communicate with and truly know each other through peace-building dialogue and creative collaboration.
