Clarkston Community Center

The Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that is a reflection of the community around it: diverse, supportive, and strong. Aiding a population that represents over 150 different ethnic groups, has over 50 different countries of origin, and speaks over 60 different languages, the center does its best to address the many assorted needs of the community.

Our mission

We strive to be a gathering place for art, education, recreation and community building activities in Clarkston, GA and greater DeKalb County.
Our goals

  • Create a connected community
  • Create and attract programs that work
  • Ensure our physical space reflects CCC values and goals
  • Ensure financial sustainability

As a gathering place for art, education, recreation and community building, the Clarkston Community Center works to meet the many needs that are related to the city’s demographics, density, and low income status. Through a strategic focus on community building, Clarkston Community Center programming works to bring together refugee and non-refugee populations.

Our Youth Initiative offers youth and young adults a wide array of programs geared toward student success and achievement, sports, art, and fun. The initiative includes a teen leadership group known as the Clarkston Global Academy and thriving Summer Camps called Art at the Center and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) Camp.

Our Healthy Living Initiative is growing as rapidly as the lush herbs and vegetables in the on-site Community Gardens. The Healthy Living Initiative includes a Food Co-op, Food Pantry, and Community Gardens.

Senior Programs: We are developing several senior initiatives and if you would like to be part of the process, please call and let us know.

Recreation encompasses a variety of ongoing classes, such as Tai Chi, Tabala, art exhibitions, weekly bicycle co-op, special screenings of world sports events, and weekly or monthly events such as Contra dancing.
