EdNet Forum: Compassion Matters - June 15th, 2023, 7:30am Pacific TimeSupporting children and educators to explore compassion, values and secular ethics Compassion Matters, a project from The Dalai Lama Centre for Compassion, aims to create a kinder and happier society by inspiring children and young people to lead compassionate lives. We provide learning resources and training for educators to help children discover secular ethics and ideas about compassion. At the heart of the project, children explore ideas that are universal to all human beings, such as; Where does happiness come from? What is true courage? What is a just society? What is compassion for self and others? Our resources can be used in assemblies PSHE, pastoral, RE, RSE, pastoral or personal development lessons, or extracurricular activities. Our resources are often used for the basis of assemblies and can be used in RE, RSE, PSHE, personal development, well-being and pastoral lessons. They can also be used in extra-curricular activities, after-school clubs and charitable education projects. Compassion Matters projects are designed to support relationship and health education guidance from the Department for Education covering respectful relationships, being safe and mental health. You can download further information about this. Compassion Matters also helps schools to meet the new Ofsted inspect framework published September 2019 specifically sections related to personal development, behaviours and attitudes.
