BeCompassionateNl was founded in St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador.

In  May 2022, we seek Board Members for an Independent  Advisory Board. We seek collaborators and partners to help us achieve B certification. We cherish and seek to learn from our Indigenous Elders, Bundle and Knowledge keepers, Land Protectors, their strong allies, our collective Wisdom Teachers, innovative business and community leaders, creatives and scientists. We support a Just Transition. To ensure this happens we are setting our intention to co-create compassion, diversity, kindness and inclusion-focused ecological civilizations. Our intention is to ensure that human and non-human life will flourish to the Seventh Generation.

Land Acknowledgement of the Kindness of the Ancestors

With gratitude, we acknowledge this Land Acknowledgement we received permission to use from First Light.

We respectfully acknowledge the land on which we gather as the ancestral homelands of the Beothuk, whose culture has now been erased forever. We also acknowledge the island of Ktaqamkuk (Newfoundland) as the unceded, traditional territory of the Beothuk and the Mi’kmaq. And we acknowledge Labrador as the traditional and ancestral homelands of the Innu of Nitassinan, the Inuit of Nunatsiavut, and the Inuit of NunatuKavut. We recognize all First Peoples who were here before us, those who live with us now, and the seven generations to come. As First Peoples have done since time immemorial, we strive to be responsible stewards of the land and to respect the cultures, ceremonies, and traditions of all who call it home. As we open our hearts and minds to the past, we commit ourselves to working in a spirit of truth and reconciliation to make a better future for all.

At BeCompassionateNL Inc., we seek to cherish, defend,  listen to, learn from, love and support  Indigenous Elders, Bundle and Knowledge Keepers, Wisdom Teachers and their strong allies.

We know that we, as individuals, family members, communities, nations and members of power blocs, we need to process our disappointments and our suffering. We need to cultivate resilience and recover from the suffering caused by accidents, bias, chaos, climate emergencies, conflict, discrimination, drought, exclusion, famines, floods, hurricanes, illness, tornados violence, warfare, and wildfires.

Suppressed human heartache and suffering, often referred to as trauma may make us “blind”. Unhealed emotional trauma is often the proverbial “elephant in the room “, trampling through our lives, hurting, and harming our relationships with ourselves, our family members, communities, and even entire nations. We suspect that unhealed suffering is amplified and intensified by the constant pain and stress of modern living.

We, modern have created highly competitive, hierarchical, punitive, and unhealthy societies. Hence we live with pandemic levels of addiction, anxiety, chronic illness, disconnect, grief and loneliness.  We know that we humans have a tremendous inherent capacity to care, cultivate compassion, connection, and kindness, and increase our resilience. We also know that post-traumatic growth is possible.

Hence, we set our intention to heal ourselves, our families, our communities, and our living planet.  We choose to encourage, support each other and join in inclusive, supportive, and welcoming circles. We believe that our lives are happier and healthier when we create relatively equal, caring societies. Linked together in a circle, we know that we have the support needed when we stumble and fall.

So we set our intention to heal ourselves, our families, our communities and our living planet. During these stormy times, we invite all our neighbours to walk with us, through the doorway of Truth and Reconciliation, to heal people and the planet, find quiet coves and co-create safe havens.
