In addition, over 70 cities globally have affirmed the Charter for Compassion through city, community councils or other government entities. Affirming the Charter means that a community has identified issues on which they are working, and committed to a multi-year action plan

Initiatives are on-going city and community campaigns which are involved in creating, evaluating and sustaining action plans. Many of these plans involve working with local partners in strengthening initiatives, and more and more, a number of initiatives are reaching across borders to help with projects based in a twin or sister city. Some communities have even adapted a compassionate initiative or project beyond their own borders. Some cities/communities are highlighted and linked to a description of their work.
