It all starts with a sandwich
Our partnership with xocial
We are putting compassion into action and we are challenging you to do the same. Back in 2011, NPR’s (National Public Radio) Neal Conan interviewed the Charter for Compassion’s founder, Karen Armstrong. Six minutes in to their chat, he had an epiphany. “This all seems a little harder than sharing your sandwich at lunch,” he said. Karen agreed. “It requires a constant effort of imagination.”
But it could start with a sandwich.
If we’re going to achieve a global democracy governed by the Golden Rule, it’s going to take a lot of us doing little things every day. And that’s why we’ve joined with xocial, an online community that inspires people and organizations to take action on causes they care about, one challenge at a time.,
We’ve created a number of campaigns on xocial.com to help us inspire and celebrate compassionate acts. Join a campaign (or two or ten) that speaks to you. Prove that one person can make a difference. And tell the world that compassion is a global movement worth joining. Lunch optional.
Sign up at xocial.com. Click on the Charter for Compassion icon. Then check out all of the challenges. You might even want to check out answers to a series of questions posed to the Charter that I answered. I hope this will give you an overview of the Charter in brief.
Are you a member?
We want you to sign up or recommit as a member of the Charter for Compassion International. By becoming a member, you are supporting the Charter's core team effort's to provide tools and resources to people who believe that a compassionate world is a peaceful world. This team of staff and volunteers organizes events, puts together resources, develops programming and more to help cities and other communities take the steps to develop and implement action plans to become more compassionate. Our campaign aims to welcome 2,000 new and returning members and garner $70,000 in dues in 2017. Also, this campaign kicks off our relationship with CommitChange—a cloud-based service that allows nonprofits and donors to work together on a single platform. Check out our new donate page. We hope you use it!
