Special Newsletter for the United Kingdom
Dear Friends:
I’m writing to propose a conference call on Monday, 18th of July at 5 pm BST. Please register and join us in conversation. Click here to register.
It has been awhile since we have had a conference call and a great deal has been happening not only with the work of the Charter of Compassion globally, but in the UK as well. Belfast has initiated a compassion dialogue and Magdalene Sacranie (Kincross) and Tam Martin O’Fowles (Cornwall/London/Soweto) are hard at work making things happen locally and internationally.
Also, there is a new partner you might be interested in knowing more. It is Open Trial. Injustice blights the lives of billions, often crippling the lives of the poor generation after generation, so that even today one in nine people around the world go to bed hungry every night. Would you like to make your compassion count by helping to ensure 4 billion people on this planet no longer live without the protection of the law?" If this is something that interests you, then you may like to be part of a working group being guided by Frank Richardson of OpenTrial. Contact Frank if you would like to know more.
I know that it would be ideal if we could get a local UK hub and while our first attempts did not materialize we haven’t given up hope. As you probably know the Charter itself does not have an office site or own its own equipment but runs internationally through the use of a few personal computers and several communication platforms. Perhaps the same thing can happen with the UK.
We have the Charter Tool Box to help with organizing compassionate community and city initiatives and I welcome meeting with organizers to explore how the Charter and our partner network can help with your compassionate action projects.
As you register for the call please indicate if you would like to talk and share what you are doing. If not please come and listen. There is a field for you to enter in your willingness to speak and also please record any questions you may have.
It would be good if we could end this session with a sense of how to get in touch, do we want a separate newsletter (perhaps twice a year) that speaks to what is happening in the UK, and perhaps have several people who would be open to take this on.
Looking forward to talking with you.
Thanks for all that you do in making the Charter for Compassion being a living document in your lives.
