Take Time to Rest
One of the Charter partners, Steve Kaye, is an extraordinary photographer and writer. He runs his own blog that blends his talents into meaningful messages that I’ve come to regard as ‘Lessons from the Birds’.
Steve’s website is all about nature and birds and this week’s entry is on the Egyptian Goose, whose photo is above. This is Steve’s message through the eyes of the goose:
Pause right now and take a slow, deep breath.
Then focus on your breath as you exhale and let it go.
Do this a few times. Why?
Slow, deliberate breathing relieves stress, feels good and creates inner peace.
This is one way to care for yourself with kindness and we need to be kind to ourselves.
Here are other ways to care for yourself, such as:
1) Set yourself realistic expectations
2) Praise yourself
3) Eat wisely
4) Sleep enough
5) Pause occasionally
6) Be grateful
I’ve found that the best way to feel better is to care for others. When we care for ourselves in these ways, we are able to do the same for others. Make ‘caring’ a priority.
