Retiree Compassion Program Group
The Retiree Compassion Program Group, a small group, has been inspired by Charter for Compassion excitement and activities around the world since the mid-2014s.Two retirees have had the privilege of spending time with Karen Armstrong at the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, NY.
Since then, this couple and two friends have gathered other retirees to view a DVD of Karen Armstrong’s 2008 TED award-winning speech. We’ve had discussions and shared copies of the Charter with friends and relatives. The Charter for Compassion International website keeps us invigorated and informed.
The Charter focus categories (education, business, environment, interfaith, healthcare and more) have led us to look more closely at the compassionate efforts of groups and individuals in their employments and everyday lives.
From 2014 - 2016, the Retiree Compassion Program Group has hosted 17 speakers with 600 in total attendance (35-40 per program) and know that 127 retirees have affirmed the Charter.
Retirees continue to suggest ideas for people and groups that they want to befriend.
