For the Sake of Heart
Song Background
This composition began to form when Dottie Matthews, then Associate Minister at the Fox Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, approached Jay to write a choral anthem to be performed during a special service a few months hence.
Dottie had come across a translation of a poem by the mystic poet, Rumi that had captivated her, and she asked Jay if he could use that text in the choral piece. Upon reading the poem, Jay agreed that the poem offered lots of potential and set to work. While researching Rumi and the poem, Jay came across a quote from Shams-e Tabrizi, Rumi’s closest companion, which complimented the basic message of the poem. Jay incorporated this quote and created an imagined conversation between Rumi and his dearest friend.
Jay may be reached at Jet Musik Studio. The website is under construction www.jetmusik.com where the Original Score sheet music will soon be available for download.
