    The Charter for Compassion (CFC) is a 501C3 non-profit charity and an international global movement serving as a platform for people to engage in collaborative partnerships worldwide.  Our mission is to bring to life the principles articulated in the Charter through concrete, practical action in a myriad of organized and specialized sectors. Aware that our world is deeply troubled and polarized, the Charter for Compassion is committed to making the world a better place. If you want to make an impact on a global level and are committed to engaging and leading towards a world where everyone is committed to living by the value of Compassion with the Golden Rule as guiding principle, you may have what it takes to be our next Executive Director.

    Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, the Executive Director (ED) is the management leader of the CFC and as such is responsible to develop, oversee and where necessary, contribute to operational functions, education, fundraising, as well as staff and volunteer leadership.   The ED must lead and facilitate the execution of the CFC vision, mission, and strategic plan.  Working from a home office environment leading staff and volunteers around the globe, successful candidates should have substantive experience in:

    • Recruiting, managing, and providing inspirational leadership to energize, engage and motivate staff and volunteers. 
    • Strong management, leadership, and organizing skills with the ability to prioritize and simultaneously execute on multiple, complex priorities. 
    • Excellent ability to facilitate dialogue and support of complex global issues with a wide variety of stakeholders, including responding to crises and critical humanitarian situations. 
    • A demonstrated ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with a multitude of diverse stakeholders including but not limited to politicians, corporations, Charter Partners, governmental organizations and educators. 
    • Building and maintaining systems to support infrastructure and ensure fiscal accountability to the Board.
    • Overseeing budget and financial practices including leading a three-year fiscal planning process, developing an annual budget for approval by the Board, and ensuring that adequate systems and audits are in place to support a responsible and conservative fiscal policy.
    • Successfully managing fundraising strategies and tactics, including but not limited to grant writing, drawing on your existing network, making presentations to funders and foundations, and leveraging large fundraising events.
    • Overseeing marketing, social media and education initiatives. 
    • The ability to travel globally, working across time zones including working comfortably within and across cultures, with high degree of empathy and sensitivity. 
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills; skilled as a persuasive and passionate communicator with strong relational and multidisciplinary projects.

    1. Letter of Intent
      • Sentence of intent to apply for the position and that you have read the official ED position Description
      • Why you believe you are the best candidate for the position based on the position description as well as based on your own education, training, and experience.
      • Please address the following four questions in writing in your letter of Intent.  Not to exceed two pages at 1.5 spacing.
        • Given this role of ED, what global impact do you want to achieve in the next 3-5 years? What examples can you provide of having a positive impact in an ambassadorial role?
        • As an Executive Director, you will be both a leader and a manager. How do you see these roles intersecting?
        • Please share with us with specific examples about a successful strategic plan you have developed and implemented in the past.  What impact did it have?
        • What is your hands-on experience in fundraising? Please provide specific examples about your role and the impact it had (funds raised etc)
    2. Copy of current Resume and/or Curriculum vitae with your contact information.
    3. List contact information for two individuals each willing at your request to send as an attachment a letter of recommendation (LOR) on your behalf – not to exceed one page single or double spaced
