This year, in my annual catch-up-with-friends-letter, I'm sharing my excitement about working with the Charter for Compassion. No more Sunday Night Blues about the week about to begin.
It was new to me--work with a purpose, and while for a few years now, the Charter has been my positive parallel reality when the news was too hard for me to watch, now I am at work, right here. Have a look at our video.
I'm a very visual person and often thoughts come in pictures. For instance, the calendar in my head is a flattened oval, with January 2022 starting just around the curve as it moves upward and the shortest and the longest days of the year are bolded and stand out.
A seesaw is how I see the Charter's work. Every day, we who do the work, volunteer, or financially support the Charter in co-creating a world that is compassionate and just for all in it, are climbing the seesaw. And when there are enough of us, all doing whatever we can do to move the work forward, the seesaw will tip. It is inevitable. While in previous years I'd get discouraged, because progress is slow and there is so much to be done, this year I know that even my one little step at a time on the seesaw moves us toward our goal and I no longer feel powerless. We all dream of the year ahead, make plans, write down resolutions. Will you add the Charter to your plans, join us on the seesaw? Help us, by volunteering or by financially supporting our work? If so, here are our links to donate or volunteer. Thank you.
Happy Holidays! I wish you good health, joy, and the warm connection of community.
With warm regards,
Lynn de Vree

COMPASSIONATE INTEGRITY TRAINING
Have you ever wondered how you could cultivate the compassion called for in the Charter or help others cultivate that compassion? Compassionate Integrity Training (CIT) is a great place to start!
CIT is a resiliency-informed program that cultivates human values as skills, so we can thrive as individuals, and a society, within a healthy environment. This comprehensive course teaches us how we can build towards compassionate integrity: the ability to live one’s life in accordance with one’s values with a recognition of common humanity, our basic orientation to kindness and reciprocity.
Starts January 18

peace in the age of chaos
Next month's Global Read: Humanity is now facing challenges unparalleled in its history. Many of these problems are global in nature, such as climate change, ever-decreasing biodiversity, full use of the fresh water and overpopulation. Such global challenges call for global solutions and require Â
cooperation on a scale unprecedented in human history.
Positive Peace provides a framework to understand and address the many complex challenges the world faces. Positive Peace is transformational in that it is a cross-cutting factor of progress, making it easier for businesses to sell, entrepreneurs and scientists to innovate, individuals to produce and governments to effectively regulate.
January 10, 12pm PT which is January 11, 7am AEST Donation or Free

EdNet FORUM
Welcome to EdNet. This is an open forum exploring questions around issues of compassion and education. We will be hearing from individuals and organizations who are exploring new ways of thinking and acting globally. We are opening the 2022 series with Wendy Ellyat, founder of the Save Childhood Movement and the Flourish Project.
Wendy will be sharing with us her work on a youth survey that is under consideration and how the Flourish Project is steadily trying to align their own activities with those of both the UK Spirituality in Education Alliance and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and with the Thought Leaders Circle.
January 6, 7:30-9am PST Free

TAKE ACTION Go to our TAKE ACTION page to find a variety of ways in which to interact with the Charter and some of our key strategic partners. The Charter for Compassion is essentially a movement with many different players; individuals, compassionate cities, partner organizations and coalitions of other organizations all coming together as one network. As a non-profit, the Charter relies on the generosity of its members and communities to continue to meet our mission of making compassion a clear, luminous, and dynamic force in our polarized world. Help us share our vision and work with your family, colleagues, neighbors, and organizations in which you are involved.  Host a Charter Salon with friends and family, at home, with your faith community, or colleagues from work. We have everything you need: invitations, links to films, brochures, PowerPoints if you prefer, and even talking points. Contact Us and we’ll get back to you, follow up with an e-mail, call or Zoom meeting. We rely on people who believe in our mission to help touch the lives of those in local communities and across the world.
