"What a man (sic) can be, he must be," so said Abraham Maslow the proponent of the theory of self-actualization. I remember reading that Maslow thought that few people got to the full potential of their capabilities when it came to be self-actualized. Well, Maslow never met Deogratias Niyizonkiza. 

Deo, as he is often called by his friends, is an individual who fled the genocide in Burundi, against all odds escaping with his life only to find himself homeless in New York City. Tracy Kidder shared his story in his book about Deo, being recognized as someone who returned to his homeland, educated as a medical doctor and credited with saving a nation. How is that for being self-actualized?

This is a space to establish your presence in peace, connect with others and refresh your own heart. 
The format is: guided practices to nourish your mind and spirit, circle sharing together and deep relaxation.

The Summit kicks off with Opening Ceremonies and the “International Shout Out Love Day” on Sat. October 15th. There will be 60 exciting and uplifting events over the course of the Free 10-Day Summit, including special musical guests, compelling short films, a Women’s Wednesday packed with transformational female leaders, wisdom panels, educational programs, group meditations, and mindfulness practices. The experience continues through Monday, October 24th, with multiple online events each of the 10 days. Learn more and register for this event.

Islands of Calm Meditation for City, Town, Village with Integral City Meshworks

Integral City Meshworks offers a Zoom Islands of Calm Meditation for Compassionate Cities once a month on the 4th Saturday.

After the meditation participants can (optionally) share their experience of the meditation. This is always delightful and valuable as we get a sense of the energies we are collectively noticing and sharing in the Field of our villages and cities.

Altogether the meditation lasts for an hour embracing the check-in, meditation and checkout.
