Workshop Description:

Healing Circles are an indigenous practice of communication that uses dialogue in a circle format to achieve human understanding as a common goal. When participants engage in a circle dialogue, there is more possibility of being heard instead of arguments which can lead to violence. Police are not trained to use dialogue and other peaceful resolution approaches to help resolve matters of conflict. Instead, every citizen has the potential to apply mediation tools that can foster cooperation, safety and peace. A conversation about taking charge of interactions within school buildings, between neighbors and families, diversion boards or councils of elders can promote more healthy communities and restorative justice to replace current retributive systems.
