Effective Groups
The Transition Network is working on a series of videos which explain the six areas of group life that need attention for a group to be healthy, effective and successful.
These are: Finding how you fit in your environment; Discovering Direction; Creating Culture; Working with Power & Structure; Efficient Operations; Learning, Sustaining and Evolving.
These areas will be explored in three types of groups: hierarchies, collaborative groups and agile organisations. Here is the introduction piece. The rest of the episodes will be uploaded as they get made.
A DVD of the complete set will also be available.
Getting things done with other people is complex! This introduces six areas of group life which need attending to for a group, team or organisation to be fun and effective:
finding how you fit into your environment
discovering direction
working with power and structure
creating culture
efficient operations
earning, sustaining and evolving
The clarity of an organisation's purpose, how much this purpose is shared between people and how the purpose gets decided on are all crucial to how effective an organisation can be. This is done in different ways in hierarchical structures, collaborative groups or agile organisations and this introduces some of the differences.
