#ThisIsCompassion Campaign: Make A Difference and You May Win A Free Trip

Join us as we launch the new #ThisIsCompassion social media campaign. Our goal is to increase awareness of the true meaning of #compassion: to engage in the suffering of others. The campaign begins today and continues through 2019, as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of our international organization.

4 Steps To Participate in #ThisIsCompassion Campaign:

1. Post a short video or photo to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram (or all) writing a brief description of compassionate action of people helping others suffering from issues like #homelessness #hunger #war #violence #abuse #humantrafficking #substanceabuse #poverty #pollution #discrimination #inequality, lack of #education or #cleanwater, (to name a few). Be sure to type #ThisIsCompassion, capitalizing the "I" in "Is." Posts in all languages are welcome.

2. In the second paragraph of text, provide inspired readers with tips for how to engage in helping those suffering from this subject. It might be #listening to individuals, #advocating to policy makers, #volunteering or #donating to a local or global #charity. Provide a helpful hyperlink.

3. To help your post go viral, adjust your Privacy setting for this one post to "Public." Add a link to this Facebook page by typing the @ symbol then typing "charterforcompassion" Then click the Charter for Compassion Facebook page in the pop-up, which will be bolded in your copy. Add #CharterforCompassion.

4. Help us TRACK RESULTS for this campaign using the Compassion Report Map at Enter the title of this compassionate action and the location city (or specific address) and a photo, if possible. Describe what took place and reflect on the impact it had on you. Enter the number of volunteers (even if it’s just you=1), total number of hours served. Accept the Terms and Submit. Using this tracking tool is imperative for the Charter for Compassion to demonstrate measurable results to potential funders who wish to support and grow efforts like this campaign.

Just as learning compassion requires regular practice, we invite you to become a regular campaign volunteer by sharing related #ThisIsCompassion posts from the Charter each week. By sharing with your friends, you’ll help educate others about the differences between kindness, sympathy, empathy and compassion, plus you just might inspire others to take compassionate action where they live. As an incentive to participate, one person will be selected Campaign Champion by the Charter’s board of trustees on September 21, 2019 (International Day of Peace). The champion and a guest will receive a free trip to the Charter for Compassion’s 10th anniversary gala in Monterrey, Mexico on 10.10.19, plus free registration to the Worldwide Meeting on Human Values (Encuentro Mundial de Valores). Criteria for selection include frequency of participation (March-September 2019) in the campaign and measurable impact (via Compassion Report Map).
