Watch a Recording of the Program
Thirty-three years ago, Jenny Finn woke up to the gift of this life in an extraordinary way. That wake up call quickly turned into a call to service to mentor people, communities, and organizations in the art of coming alive. Jenny had no idea that following that call would lead to founding a school or a printing press – but she did both through Springhouse. Springhouse is an intergenerational vitality-centered learning community in Southwest Virginia. We envision a thriving world and are on a mission to fundamentally transform the purpose and practice of education.
In this session, Jenny will share about her experience in fostering vitality through cultural design and education, including what she has learned from the 10-year experiment at Springhouse. She will introduce the five principles of our cultural design that we call Sourced Design, and share a unique educational model that puts Life at the center and supports people and communities as they learn how to come alive.
About the Presenter
Jenny Finn has designed structures that foster vitality in people, communities, and organizations for nearly 30 years. She holds a Ph.D. in Sustainability Education and co-founded Springhouse, a school inspired by a vision to live in a world where all life thrives. Dr. Finn’s research, mentoring, and teaching invites people to deepen the relationship they have with themselves in order to serve the world with greater clarity and compassion. Her work has taken many forms including non-profit leadership, trauma and hospice care, chaplaincy, clinical private practice, community building through the expressive arts, and education. With a dedicated and inspiring community, Dr. Finn articulated Sourced Design– five principles that take care of life in a person, community, and place. These principles are practiced at Springhouse and shared globally with those who share the vision of a thriving world. Learn more at Springhouse website.
