Jun-Pierre Shiozawa is a painter, Eisner-nominated comic artist, and art instructor from France. He has always found joy in making pictures. As a child, he copied cartoons and comics, and his first job was as a caricaturist at the local town fair when he was twelve years old. At 19, he attended The Aegean Center for the Fine Arts in Italy and Greece, where he studied classical painting.

Jun-Pierre primarily works with water-based media, including watercolour and ink. He has been an art educator with more than twelve years of experience teaching watercolour, oil painting, drawing and art history. Living in Paros, Greece, deeply affected the way he approached painting and how he paints today. He prefers to paint in nature instead of the studio and started using watercolour for practical reasons because it is fast and there is little to carry. Watercolour is a perfect fit for his sensibilities and aesthetic.

In 2011, he led his first watercolour workshop called “The Craft of Watercolor”, which merged his passions of watercolour painting and travel sketching/painting. Since then, he has led workshops in Italy, Ireland, Greece and the United States focusing on discovering and experiencing a place through drawing and watercolour. His first graphic novel GENIUS ANIMALS? written by Vali Chandrasekaran, was released in 2020 and was featured in the New York Times, Comics Beat, Panel Patter and was nominated for an Eisner Award for Best Digital Comic.

He resides in Nice, France with his wife and two young daughters.
