Waging Peace

David Goodlett: House Owners

 We,

Homeless men and women,

Not house owners,

Not rich but poor,

Without believing that we can get a house,

Thought of ways to get money to live.

The trash you do not want,

And the clothes you do not need are ours,

Because you throw them away like a piece of old pizza.

We will not use the money to buy drugs or cigarettes.

We will save up and live the way we want,

Free, proud, formerly homeless.
