Waging Peace

Robin Leigh: Tides

After the court of emotions
that we struggled to live with
disappear and I am alone with the memory
of love as a shared place,
I start to notice the beauty of stones
that have been made smooth
by years of tides. I find I can wiggle my toes
in waters I used to fear would consume me, and I am
refreshed by its coolness. I wonder at the beauty
of the plain chalice we toasted each other with. All
that surrounds me is transformed
and magical by the gaze of forgiveness.
This life is the art we made
and this poem is my gift
to honor you.
