TACA (Dallas, TX, USA)
Mission
TACA supports excellence and impact in the arts through grant-making, capacity building, and thought leadership.
Vision
TACA envisions an innovative, inclusive, sustainable cultural sector, recognized for its essential contribution to a vibrant, prosperous community.
TACA Transforms Lives through the Arts
TACA exists to transform the lives of North Texas citizens via experiences that they have with the arts.
For 50 years TACA has believed that the arts play a critical and unique position in impacting the trajectory of the lives and attitudes of children and of adults.
While there has been great success, that role is even more important today when negativity, distrust and division dominate too many dialogues.
TACA believes that arts experiences offer the opportunity for performers and artists to connect to each audience member and ignite an intimate conversation that demonstrates respect, offers exploration, examines personal challenges, celebrates diversity, and tenders hope, joy, understanding and laughter.
There are three pathways that TACA travels to stimulate the transformation of lives.
Impactful arts experiences.
Providing local arts organizations with the resources to create impactful art experiences
Audience development.
Fueling audience growth, engagement and loyalty
Vibrancy of the arts in Dallas.
To make the Dallas area a destination for performers, artists, musicians, writers, directors, and backstage professionals
To create an environment that encourages the launch and nurturing of new arts organizations

TateHelps (Bellevue, WA, USA)
My name is Tate, hello! I am eight years old and I live in Washington. I love horse riding, running, hiking, playing with my brother and sister, and walking my dog, Mouse. I made this calendar because I want to raise money for two charities; one that helps stop cancer and one that saves abused horses.
I want to support The Breast Cancer Research Foundation because my mom is BRCA positive and she had to have a lot of surgery this year and I want to help find a cure. I want to support Save A Forgotten Equine (SAFE) because I don't know how people could be so mean to such a beautiful animal and I want to help give horses a second chance. I'm going to give 100% of the profits from my calendar to these two charities.

Texas Muslim Women's Foundation (Plano, TX, USA)
In 2005 a group of diverse Muslim women in the Dallas-Fort Worth area came together to discuss the critical issues that were paramount in their lives. This came about as a result of the tragic happenings of September 11, 2001, when American Muslims found their faith at the center of world events. Friends, neighbors and coworkers were suddenly questioning what it meant to be Muslim. We were asking many questions ourselves: What does Islam stand for as a way of life? What is the role of women in Islam? What can women do within the Muslim community and society as a whole to stand for peace?
That first meeting drew 30 women of all ages from varying heritage, backgrounds, careers and faiths. Many were new immigrants seeking political stability and better lives in the United States. We all wanted to get more involved in the system and make our voices heard and we all recognized the gravity of this moment in history. We were determined to shape our future by organizing and combining our resources. While the needs of the community were diverse, we believed that together we could "empower, promote and support women and their families through education, Interfaith outreach, philanthropy and social services". This became the mission of our unique organization—the Texas Muslim Women's Foundation (TMWF).
Today, after almost ten years, we've come a long way toward accomplishing what these pioneering women set out to prove. We've done it by working hand in hand to mobilize all members of our community—men, women, seniors and youth. Our work covers the entire Metroplex but primarily focuses on Collin County and its large and growing Muslim population.
TMWF is actively demonstrating that American Muslims are a peaceful, ethical and philanthropic community that cares deeply about humanitarian causes, diversity and equality. We have been on the forefront of establishing friendship and understanding through interfaith dialogue with our neighbors from Christian, Jewish, Sikh, Hindu and other faiths. TMWF youth have been our enthusiastic ambassadors for six years volunteering monthly in food pantries, feeding the homeless, working with the Salvation Army, and organizing toy drives for sick and needy children.
Our primary program is through social services, which provides domestic violence (DV) training, education and intervention including the Peaceful Oasis emergency shelter for victims and their children. Our training efforts include an annual DV awareness campaign during Ramadan and workshops for both mainstream service providers and Islamic organizations. We provide counseling for law enforcement and district attorneys to familiarize them with the unique needs of this diverse community. We partner with numerous coalitions and faith-based organizations to hold symposiums on DV to raise awareness and pool expertise and resources. Our agency is the only direct service agency in the nation providing domestic violence training to Imams. As a result of our 2011 workshop, 12 Imams signed a declaration of zero tolerance to DV within their congregations.
Although TMWF is a young organization, we are proud of the progress we have made. Our belief that “the woman who rocks the cradle with her left hand can shake the world with her right one” is coming true!
TMWF is All About Muslim Women for All Women
Each of us has much to share and contribute! TMWF would like to help people understand that Muslim women play many roles just like women of other faiths, and to help overcome stereotypes that many have about Muslim Women.

The Arts of Humanity (Chicago, IL, USA)
What is our world without love? Without care? Without hope...without humanitarians?
Politicians create policies to improve humanity; citizens offer help at their convenience, but humanitarians are the boots on the ground that get the job done. Humanitarianism is a life-style that The AofH respects and honors!
Yet, humanitarians are often under-valued, un-supported, and sometimes, under-appreciated.
And even with the weight of the world on their shoulders, humanitarians can get lonely and feel their efforts fall into the shadows.
But not at The Arts of Humanity!
The AofH helps these Do-Gooders by providing varied support methods, outlets, and modern, media driven platforms that encourage their creative humanitarianism while inspiring others to become humanitarians.

The Association of Anglican Women in the Anglican Church of Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia (Hawera, Taranaki, New Zealand)
Aotearoa New Zealand and Polynesia
Our association has two aims:
- To unite in prayer and participate in the mission of the Church; and
- To promote, safeguard and nurture Christian family life.
Our church’s mission (mentioned in our first aim) is described as five-fold:
- To proclaim the good news of the Kingdom;
- To teach, baptise and nurture new believers;
- To respond to human needs by loving service;
- To seek to transform unjust structures of society, to challenge violence of every kind and to pursue peace and reconciliation; and
- To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth.
The AAW has branches throughout New Zealand and Polynesia. Most meet monthly with gatherings including worship and a variety of activities, some for fellowship, some for learning, some for the support of others in the community or overseas. We keep in touch across groups with our magazine “Circle”, with area gatherings of one sort or another and with a triennial conference. Our most recent was held in Dunedin, where speakers included women from Trade Aid, Chatbus (a local counselling service for children) and Foodshare, an organisation moving otherwise wasted food to social services for distribution.
As a whole association, we provide regular funding for projects in various countries in Africa, Asia and the Pacific. We particularly like to help women and children. Our current recipients include those working in the areas of water supply, health, dentistry, teaching, sewing, social justice and kindergartens. Local groups also support projects in their own parishes and communities, including a school for teenage parents, supplies for arriving refugees and the House of Sarah, a women’s refuge and counselling service in Fiji. Our emergency fund is there to help out a bit when there is a natural disaster.
We also make a point of being involved with Social Concerns at a policy level. Members are represented at the National Council of Women and we can thus feed into the law-making process. Sometimes we make submissions on our own behalf to Government, Councils and the like. We try to stay abreast of the issues of the day and reflect on them in light of our faith journey.
We are happy to be partnered with the Charter and to pursue our mutual aims.

The Barber's Daughters (Toronto, ON, Canada)
The Barber's Daughters create contemplative jewellery of message, meaning and purpose. Engraving words of inspiration into semi and precious metals which can be used as grounding agents or touch stones. In a world overrun by sensory overload, its easy to forget our 'whole' self. "The most important element, and what puts a skip in my step," says founder/director Gisele Theriault, "is being able to provide a way that we can walk daily with words that inspire. Words that ground and teach us how to reach for the courage to be totally present, alive and heart centered."
Some of the current galleries and gift shops carrying The Barber's Daughters jewelry are: Grail Springs Spa, Handworks Gallery in Saint John, The Santa Barbara Museum of Art, The Ritz-Carlton Spa in Toronto, and Bluboho in Toronto and Oakville, ON.

The Center For Neighborhoods (Louisville, KY, USA)
About Us
The life and vitality of a city relies on the engagement of people in everyday community life. The Center For Neighborhoods (formerly the Louisville Community Design Center) envisions a community driven by an array of lively civic institutions working in partnership with local government and one another to create sound neighborhoods and community.
Our purpose is to empower citizens and citizen-based institutions to have an effective role in making their neighborhoods good, decent, and attractive places to live. Continuing 33 years of work, the Center For Neighborhoodspursues its mission and fundamental purpose through leadership education, through community planning, and by assisting neighborhood-based development and improvement.
Learning
Goal of Learning:
Cultivate and support effective neighborhood associations citywide through leadership education. Build learning networks around common concerns and approaches, drawing together resident leaders from diverse neighborhoods, perspectives, and experiences.
The Neighborhood Institute. Begun in 1987, the Neighborhood Institute is a comprehensive leadership program designed to provide neighborhood leaders with the skills and understandings necessary to lead effective neighborhood organizations. The Institute is conducted as a twelve-week seminar twice each year.
NI Graduate Seminars Occasional seminars conducted for graduates of the Neighborhood Institute that “drill-down” into issues, skills, and best practices introduced to leaders via their participation in the NI.
Planning and Development
Goal of Planning and Development:
Assist neighborhoods to articulate common goals and purposes and to envision places and functions that respond to resident needs and aspirations.
Neighborhood Plans. In association with the Metro Louisville Department of Planning and Design Services the Design Center facilitates neighborhood-specific planning efforts. Through public meetings, local task force working committees and Design Center staff efforts, we collect, document and analyze existing conditions en route to the preparation of a strategic plan that will guide future policy and development. Visioning sessions lay the groundwork for recommendations concerning the major elements of land use/community form, mobility, housing, economic development, parks and open space, historic preservation and environmental resource protection.
Neighborhood Assessments. With the Metro Louisville Department of Neighborhoods, the Community Design Center conducts neighborhood assessments throughout metropolitan Louisville. In partnership with neighborhood and civic organizations, small cities, and members of Metro Council, each assessment solicits broad input from Census 2000 data, resident quality-of-life surveys and public resident workshops. The ultimate product of these efforts is an agenda for action by the neighborhood, its neighborhood-serving institutions and Metro Louisville government.
CHDO Train & Sustain. Fledgling Community Housing Development Organizations (CHDO) are given the necessary tools forincreasing their capability, effectiveness and sustainability through a combination of training and technical assistance. A series of eight classes is offered twice each year and ongoing technical assistance is provided following the classes.
Brownfields Institute. In partnership with Metropolitan Development Authority and the University of Louisville, CFN is conducts a series of workshops, “Rethinking Brownfields” with the purpose of creating a task force for the corridor bounded by Algonquin Parkway, Broadway and 9th and 22nd Streets. Residents, developers, real estate investors, environmentalists, public agency representatives, neighborhood institutions, business and property owners are convening to examine the assets, possibilities and barriers in revitalizing the area.
Parks and Open Space. Assistance to neighborhoods in the development of plans for open space and parks that benefit and support neighborhood quality of life.
UofL/UK Urban Design Studio. The Center For Neighborhoods is a founding partner of the University of Louisville/University of Kentucky Urban Design Studio, a teaching facility established in 1998 as a groundbreaking collaboration between the University of Louisville School of Urban and Public Affairs (SUPA) and the University of Kentucky College of Design. Typical of CFN’s practicing relationship with the UDS, the CFN annually conducts a graduate-level Neighborhood Planning Studio at the UDS, focusing on a current planning effort in metro Louisville neighborhoods.
Organizing
Goal of Organizing:
Organize, nurture and promote resident and family networks for community improvement and results.
Making Connections. Working with the Annie E. Casey Foundation, the Making Connections Network is helping engage residents within four center city neighborhoods around a variety of strategies for neighborhood improvement and renewal.

Areas of Expertise
The Center for Peacebuilding has expertise in a range of areas, including:
Dialogue
Youth Empowerment
Main Aims and Objectives
The Center for Peacebuilding (CIM) is a non-governmental organization – located in Sanski Most, Bosnia and Herzegovina – that seeks to rebuild trust and foster reconciliation among the people of Bosnia – Croats, Serbs, Bosniaks, and others – as well as support peace processes in other countries that have suffered from violent conflict. CIM provides a safe place in a highly segregated society for constructive inter-ethnic and religious dialogue. CIM’s activities promote human rights, aid inter-cultural exchange, and equip individuals with practical skills to respond creatively to conflict to nonviolently transform potentially violent situations.
Upholding the Principles of Conflict Transformation
The Center for Peacebuilding works at a local, national, and international level to promote sustainable conflict transformation and peacebuilding. CIM’s holistic approach addresses conflict and trauma in both individuals and larger groups. The core of CIM’s work is to (re)build relationships that were destroyed during the neighbor-on-neighbor violence of the war. First, CIM aims to bring together individuals and communities from different ethnic and identity groups so that they can rehumanize “the other” and debunk historic myths and prejudice. Over time CIM works to build trust and train people as leaders in conflict resolution. In this way, CIM promote individuals to become agents of change and seeds of peace in themselves, their personal relationships, and their own community. Step-by-step, person-by-person, and community-by-community CIM transform traumas into sustainable peace.
Where and with Whom
CIM’s work engages people at a local, national, and international level. In the community, CIM works with local youth through a volunteer club and with teachers through nonviolent communication and conflict resolution training. The broader Sanski Most community has been exposed to CIM’s mission through activities such as inter-religious public dialogue and cultural events sponsored by the town’s mayor and local government. Furthermore, within Sanski Most, CIM collaborates with other organizations working toward healing and peace such as the Krajina Tear Women’s organization, local Concentration Camp survivor organizations, and Veteran’s associations. CIM’s peace camp brings Bosnians from all ethnicities and areas of the country together, and has also hosted participants from the United States, Israel, Palestine, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, and France. CIM has helped to found a peacebuilding organization in Nepal, and CIM’s directors annually attend peacebuilding trainings and seminars in the United States and Switzerland.
Main Activities in the Field of Conflict Transformation
In order to promote healing, reconciliation, and peacebuilding for Bosnia’s future, CIM’s activities center around creating a safe environment of mutual listening, understanding, and compassion through (re)building relationships within Bosnia’s highly-segregated society.CIM’s activities include :
Annual Peace Camps in which weeklong retreats bring together individuals from different ethnic backgrounds to meet and discuss taboo topics related to conflict in BiH. Participants have the rare opportunity to discuss the history of war and ethnically based prejudice in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), while learning skills in nonviolent conflict resolution.
Trauma Healing with Cranio-Sacral Therapy with CIM therapists to help patients relieve traumatic stress and its psychological and physical side effects.
Inter-religious Dialogue. In March 2010 CIM began organizing meetings between Sanski Most’s various religious leaders. On March 20, 2010, for the first time in the city’s history, these leaders (representing the Islamic, Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant faiths) met public to present resources for peacebuiding in their respective religious traditions. Since then, CIM has organized regular dialogues for the people of Sanksi Most.
International Delegations. Over the course of CIM’s existence, it has hosted various international delegations who come to learn about the roots of conflict in the Balkans, the break up of Yugoslavia in the 1990s and the current challenges in promoting justice, human rights and post conflict reconstruction and reconciliation. These groups include United State’s based NGO, Global Youth Connect, and study abroad groups from the School for International Training.
Local Volunteer Club, which has nearly fifty members from Sanski Most, promotes volunteerism and local buy-in in issues of conflict resolution. Volunteers assist in grant writing, organizing the Annual Peace week, as well as gain training in nonviolent communication and conflict resolution skills.
Annual Peace Week has the task to offer the community of Sanski Most interesting lectures on various subjects, leisure activities, common prayer, friendship and promotion of the city, and all this is a endeavor for CIM to create an appropriate environment for coexistence and tolerance. Citizens of Sanski Most had the opportunity to enjoy in listening to the lectures of domestic peacekeepers, and CIM’s long-time friend Amra Pandžo from Sarajevo and other guest teacher from Switzerland, Germany and the U.S.A.

Perhaps we will not get to ever actually meet you in person but our hope is that you will be ‘comfy’ and happy while enjoying some of our homemade creations. As we all make this journey through life, between the eternities, may your days be pleasant, productive, and fulfilling. Do great things today!

We are a family of congregations in Northern California following Jesus Christ in the Anglican way as part of The Episcopal Church; we are partners with God in God’s mission here and throughout the world.
OUR IDENTITY...
A family of congregations in Northern California following Jesus Christ in the Anglican way as part of The Episcopal Church; we are partners with God in God’s mission here and throughout the world.
OUR PURPOSE...
We are called to follow, trust and obey Jesus Christ.
Living the Baptismal Covenant, we are to welcome, equip, empower, teach, and train all our members for ministry in the service of God's mission.
We do this in a way that accurately reflects our identity and manifests our core values.
We will bring all available resources to the accomplishment of our mission.
OUR MISSION...
The Mission of this Diocese is to make disciples, raise up saints and transform communities for Christ in Northern California.
OUR STRATEGY...
Create, develop and support healthy congregations.
Healthy congregations will be well-led and well-fed. They will be worship-centered, mission-minded, intentionally diverse, compassionate communities where people are formed in the faith, educated in Scripture and tradition, and helped to develop and utilize their ministry gifts. They will encourage ever-deepening fellowship, and will attend to the pastoral needs of their members. They will be bases for outreach, with special regard for the poor.
Healthy congregations will be well-organized, well-administered, adequately resourced, and appropriately housed. They will communicate effectively, and will know how to handle change and conflict. They will be active in the life of the Diocese, collaborating in mission with other congregations and withe ecumenical partners. They will actively seek to transform the communities they serve, doing Christ's work of reconciliation, and witnessing to his justice, mercy, and peace. They will model good environmental stewardship and regard for sustainability.

Formation
We help people of all ages to grow into spiritual maturity, and to be fully equipped to live the Christian life.

The Euphrates Institute (Elsah, IL, USA)
Mission:
Our mission is to advance freedom and equality by investing in better relations between the West and Middle East through education, travel, and community engagement. We focus our efforts on the moderate middle, those who share our core beliefs—the world’s interdependence, the power of dialogue, and the necessity of basing relations across nations on the principle of the Golden Rule.
Purpose and Vision:
The Euphrates Institute is committed to improving relations with the Middle East by engaging the moderate middle and marginalizing the extremists, in an era when our security, energy, and religions depend upon it.
Our vision is to ensure 20 percent of the population in the U.S. are Informed about Middle East issues; Inspired by trends of change and models of hope; and Transformed–personally equipped with the tools to be peacebuilders. Through IIT—Informing, Inspiring, Transforming–we aim to create a tipping point whereby a groundswell for long-term understanding between the U.S. and the region is fostered.
The 20 percent goal is aligned to Everett Rogers’s research at Stanford, indicating that social change occurs only when a critical mass of people in that society are behind it. For a social change to be “embedded,” 5 % of people must be behind it. The movement or idea becomes unstoppable when 20 % of the populace is behind it. Anecdotally we’ve seen this to be true in the collective American shift behind every milestone of progress, from voting rights for women to civil rights legislation, attitudes toward the treatment of mental illness, and more. When Americans change their minds, government follows.
Why we’re different:
Euphrates, a metaphorical, geographical and practical bridge between East and West, is one of the first organizations to apply this research to the pursuit of peace between the United States and the Middle East. While the problems and conflicts we face are indeed complex, they are not impossible to solve. There is no need for a battle between doers and dreamers, or so called pie-in-they-sky peaceniks and action-oriented problem solvers.
As Einstein said and as liberals, conservatives and moderates can agree, “problems cannot be solved at the same level of thinking at which we created them.” As a grassroots organization Euphrates will be the catalyst to solving to our East-West problems at a different level from which they were created—beginning with individuals and communities and progressing to a society and nation that is ripe for change.
Euphrates seeks to reach this critical mass for the core beliefs below:
Mutual dependence, not dominance, is the way to peace within any relationship. This idea is exhorted by every major religion and ethics system most Americans profess to follow and has spread to nearly every field but foreign policy.
Because the Middle East is the birthplace of our religions, the source of our energy needs and home of the greatest threats to our security, only through mutual dependence strategies in our relationships there will we become more secure, meet our energy needs and establish religious roots and ties that reflect our beliefs and preserve our own survival.
To adopt this more effective approach specifically to American foreign policy, we must shift from focusing solely on extremists to engaging the moderate middle ground, which represents the vast majority of people and cultures in the Middle East.
Our Approach:
We are building a critical mass of leading-edge individuals who recognize the need for conducting our foreign relations on the same basis as our personal relations according to the Golden Rule and in accord with shared interests. We expect to achieve our vision by:
Gearing all of our programs towards addressing the “big three” issues in the Middle East-West relationship: security, energy, and religion/rising religious fundamentalism. We do this through building bridges, sustainability abroads, and interfaith cooperation, respectively.
Addressing our message to leading edge thinkers. We have learned that we don’t have to reach everyone— such as those who cling to the mindset of zero-sum policy goals, or who tend to view foreign nations and peoples through a lens of fear and hostility— right away.
Identifying the next generation of innovators and leaders on peace and sustainability through our extensive networks, and through media, talks, and outreach.
Equipping and supporting these leaders in developing action plans to spread the message that two civilizations can find cooperation in the face of a seeming clash.
Cultivating these leaders through our travel study trips to the region, our Warriors for Peace® program, and our student Fellows program.
Our Activities:
Through a range of programs, resources, and activities, Euphrates is helping Americans take on the “big three” challenges of security, energy, and religion, from a different approach.
INFORM
Think Tank. Euphrates is currently located at Principia College, where it has an on-campus, action-oriented research center, and holds conferences and events on Middle East issues. Last year, EI launched its Euphrates Fellows program, open to undergraduates around the world.
Media. Euphrates uses the power of the media to bring attention to Middle East issues through print and audio-visual. In Baghdad in 2009, Euphrates filmed and produced a trailer about grassroots change in Iraq, and is currently producing short videos on the Middle East abroad program. EI also releases a weekly video blog on a topic of interest.
INSPIRE
Travel Study. Euphrates partners with the Center for Ecological Living and Learning to offer student study trips abroad to the Middle East with a peace and sustainability focus. Euphrates will offer shorter, non-student educational trips to the region beginning in January, 2012.
TRANSFORM
Action. Euphrates’ signature Warriors for Peace® program, launched this June, is based on the premise that transformation of our strained relations with the Middle East requires more than just government effort; it will take citizen action and involvement. Our community of Warriors for Peace® – the next generation of leaders of peace and sustainability – spearheads our action platform.

The Fiona Project (Marietta, GA, USA)
The Fiona Project is a music movement of concerts and music video to increase awareness of child sexual abuse, protect our children by sharing prevention tips in a fun uplifting way, and also to raise funding for organizations that provide prevention and survivor support programs.
Through these efforts we hope to remove the taboo and release the shame of child sexual abuse by empowering survivors to speak out and get help--including both children who are being victimized now and adults who were victimized long ago.
As adults, breaking our silence is the best thing we can do for ourselves, for others who are struggling, and also for our children by showing them a healthy example. In order to stop this devastating epidemic, it’s imperative our children understand that it's safe to speak out and tell a trusted adult who can help them.

The Ghandi Foundation (London, United Kingdom)
Does not this whole idea of nonviolence imply a change in human nature? And does history at any time record such a change? Emphatically it does. Many an individual has turned from the mean, personal, acquisitive point of view to one that sees society as a whole and works for its benefit. If there has been such a change in one person, there can be the same change in many. – M.K. Gandhi
The Gandhi Foundation exists to spread knowledge and understanding of the life and work of Mohandas K. Gandhi (1869-1948). Our most important aim is to explain and demonstrate the continuing relevance of Gandhi’s insights and actions today.
Gandhi in 1948
Gandhi is one of the most significant figures of modern times. He began as an insignificant individual with no particular talents and gradually became a remarkable human being. He considered that everyone has the potential for ethical and spiritual growth, and that community is the most effective basis for our development. Gandhi’s ideas have a relevance beyond his own time. His approach was holistic and evolved through experience.
The Gandhi Foundation promotes:
Nonviolence to replace war and aggression
Egalitarian economics, emphasising self-reliance, cooperation, and trusteeship
Simple lifestyles that avoid an endless quest for more possessions and superficial experiences. This is essential to protect the planet’s resources and ecology
Grassroots democracy that is decentralised, human-scale, and involves the active participation of everyone
Tolerance and pluralism: Gandhi regarded different religions and philosophies as each possessing some but not the whole truth
Respect for animals and an end to their exploitation

The Howland Group (Louisville, KY, USA)
The Howland Group® is committed to helping organizations of all sizes successfully navigate the currents of change. For more than 15 years our organizational consultants have worked to turn organizational pyramids upside down. The symbol of The Howland Group® - our somersaulting triangles - signifies the process of change, as leaders become stewards at the base of an inverted pyramid supporting the transformation of human capital into enlightened forces of knowledgeable action. As a result of our work, client organizations tend to perform comparatively better than their marketplace counterparts - and they spend less time and money trying to correct regrettable people and business decisions. The Howland Group® is recognized for:
improving performance,
increasing profitability
and encouraging innovation.
The Howland Group® specializes in strategy consulting and change management. Our hallmark is Building Better Worlds of Work®. We believe optimum results are achieved by: (i) first determining the strategies that drive strategic positioning and market dominance; (ii) then linking the performance of organizational members to these key enterprise strategies; and finally, (iii) recognizing and rewarding employees in meaningful ways to maximize returns
Our mission as consultants to the change management process is to impart knowledge and to foster independence. The Howland Group® facilitates change, but rather than making the change dependent on us, we teach organizations to manage change on an ongoing basis.
At The Howland Group® we believe that structure must support strategy. While any number of organizations engage in downsizing, outsourcing, and other management techniques to improve operational effectiveness, oftentimes structural components, such as organizational climate, leadership style, imbedded practices, and tacit beliefs are overlooked or even discounted, resulting in a loss of organizational effectiveness and the achievement of full potential. We know that downsizing and organization design involve more than numbers. They involve careful analysis and planning to ensure the primary mission of the organization is preserved and enhanced, while market positioning is optimized.
R. Brayton Bowen, founder and managing principal of The Howland Group®, brings a unique perspective to our practice. His commitment to Building Better Worlds of Work® is shaped by more than 25 years experience in business, consulting, and leadership education. His approach to strategy formulation and change management is multi faceted and comprehensive, as he matches the skills of our consultants to client-specific needs, thereby bringing the best state of present knowledge to bear. Author of numerous works, including Recognizing and Rewarding Employees, R. Brayton Bowen is recognized for his "non-manipulative" approach to developing knowledge workers and knowledgeable organizations.
Custom solutions are provided by The Howland Group® in the form of clear, precise diagnostic blueprints for change. Our experience covers a wide range of industries, non-profit organizations, and government agencies. We are experts in rethinking change and inspiring commitment. Remember to call The Howland Group®, the resource of choice: when the Name of the Game is Change!

The Interfaith Observer (San Francisco, CA, USA)
The Interfaith Observer (TIO), launched on September 15, 2011, is a free monthly electronic journal created to explore interreligious relations and the interfaith movement as a whole. It provides historical perspectives, surveys current interfaith news, profiles major stakeholders, and otherwise provides maps and sign-posts for the different sectors of an emerging interfaith culture. A long-term goal is to help grow connective tissue between large interfaith ventures and stakeholders and the rest of us. We promote the major institutional players. And provide space for the creative little guys all over the map who are doing wonderful new things.

The Middle Way (Los Angeles, CA, USA)
WE’RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER.
The Middle Way aims to elevate individual and collective wellness through workshops, classes, consulting, and media.
We blend principles and practices from biological science, behavioral science, and spirituality to help people, and the planet, reach their highest potential.
WHAT IS “THE MIDDLE WAY?”
“The Middle Way” is a term coined by the Buddha c. 2500 years ago. It refers to the path he prescribed for ending suffering—one that includes “noble” actions and avoiding tempting extremes. The Middle Way also refers to the balance of order and chaos as depicted in the Taoist Yin/Yang symbol.
The Middle Way Consulting is grounded in these ancient principles. It uses both ancient wisdom and contemporary science to help individuals and larger systems find wellness. Our vision is to enhance human beings’ awareness of our interconnection in service of evolving people and the planet.
MISSION
TO PROVIDE EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND SUPPORT FOR INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS THAT CULTIVATES WELL-BEING AND FACILITATES POSITIVE BEHAVIOR CHANGE.
VISION
TO HELP HUMAN BEINGS REALIZE OUR INTERCONNECTEDNESS AND TAKE PRAGMATIC STEPS TO FULFILL OUR INDIVIDUAL AND COLLECTION POTENTIALS.
THREE FOUNDING PRINCIPLES:
INTERCONNECTEDNESS
Everything is interconnected and interdependent—from the cells in our bodies, to the teams we work with, to the world, itself. The laws that govern the micro (i.e., individual) also apply to the macro (i.e., collective). As we reach our potentials individually, the collective follows.
COMPASSIONATE AWARENESS
Knowing our interconnectedness, we recognize the “common humanity” in others. Compassion for self and others dissolves unhelpful self-identification. This paves the way for pragmatic action.
PRAGMATIC ACTION
We do what works, because it works—not based on predetermined belief systems. This might change across space and time—in a dynamic system, what works depends on context. By loosening our grip on attachment to identity and ideology, we are free to answer the question, “what actions most reduce suffering?”

The Nerdy Witches (Whittier, CA, USA)
The Nerdy Witches is an interfaith miracle and magic topic based interfaith study group. We invite all faiths and traditions to join our interfaith discussions and learn how we are the same and how we differ in a supportive compassionate environment. It is our belief that understanding is the seed of compassion.
The Nerdy Witches Study Group began as a magickal element study initiated by Slate in 2012. The study was anticipated to be a year long with focus on each element in turn. The first meeting was Slate and Moonbear discussing the topics and the process in September of 2012. The group grew little by little with people joining the sessions when topics interested them and some staying for more.
As our group evolved the notion of ending the study group after the year of elemental study was put to the side. Some time along the way we started calling ourselves the Nerdy Witches. Today we focus on magickal practices of all kinds. We meet monthly and develop the topic selections through an all group survey.
We look forward to many years of studying and working together.

The Mission of the Path is to conserve and distribute seeds for the future generations. We meet our mission through seed conservation, education, and collaboration with other organizations and indigenous communities.
Our Vision is to raise the spiritual consciousness on the inter-connectedness between humanity and Mother Earth.
Grandmother Flordemayo is the founder of The Path, located on 40-acres in Estancia, New Mexico, just east of Albuquerque. Estancia is translated as the “place of rest.” On the 40-Acres are five sacred temples for humanity: The Seed Temple, The Temple of the Golden Child, The Water Temple, The Fire Temple, Wind Temple, and the Earth Temple.
The Seed Temple is the realization of Grandmother Flordemayo's original vision of a place where the sacred heritage seeds would be protected for future generations. It has existed since 2012 and has served as a source of seed for the local area, such as the Estancia Seed Library, as well as for many individuals in New Mexico and elsewhere. The many gatherings on the site have involved educational classes, sharing of seeds, and celebration of the spirituality carried in the seeds.

The Red Elephant Foundation (Chennai, India)
The Initiative
The Red Elephant Foundation is an initiative that is built on the foundations of story-telling, civilian peacebuilding and activism for women and girls. The initiative is titled "Red Elephant" to stand out as a vehicle that projects stories that must never be forgotten: stories that show you such courage that you should never forget, and stories that show the world such profound lessons that the world should never forget. In doing so, the initiative aims at creating awareness and opening up channels of communication towards creating societies of tolerance, peacebuilding and equality.
The Mission
The mission of the Red Elephant Foundation is:
- To be the voice of women and girls all over the world by telling their stories
- To be a conduit for awareness of challenges faced by women and girls in all social contexts
- To be a change-making organisation that serves to transform mindsets towards women and girls
- To encourage girls and women to be change-makers
- To encourage schools and educational institutions to include a gender sensitivity component by encouraging men and women to celebrate their diversities by beginning to respect them at first.
- To encourage governments and policy-makers to draft and implement law and policy through a gender-mainstreamed lens to serve men and women in keeping with the needs specific to their gender
- To inspire peace through dialogue, awareness and inspiration.
The Vision
The overarching goal of the Red Elephant Foundation is to be a bridge between the empowered and the yet-to-be-empowered women and girls in society. The Sufi Way International (Crestone, CO, USA)
The lineage of the Sufi Way was first established in the West in 1910 by the Indian mystic Sufi Inayat Khan, and is now a contemporary expression of the perennial spiritual path he articulated. However, the Way does not promote a particular religion, doctrine, or set of beliefs. Our primary reason for being is to foster direct, original experience of what is named as — in the languages of diverse spiritual traditions: the Real, the basic state, original nature, Buddha nature, the oneness of being, illumination, enlightenment, nondual awareness, unconditioned mind, Rigpa, the ground of being, God-consciousness, and many other names. From this primal experience a natural happiness arises, as well as a desire to be of benefit.
Based on a tradition of oral teachings and an emphasis on direct experience, the transmission of this realization in the Sufi Way typically occurs in small group contexts and through one-on-one guidance. Our programs are known for the inclusivity of teachings and practices from many traditions, and for the use of musical meditations that evoke a sense of peace and communion.
The Sufi Way's approach to spiritual growth encourages rigorous self-inquiry, contemplative practice, and the living of a full, balanced life that is present to both the joys and the suffering of the world. To these ends we facilitate in-depth training programs, practice and study circles, meditation retreats, healing and worship services, cross-cultural pilgrimages, rites-of-passage, and individual spiritual guidance.
The public training programs of the Sufi Way are known as the Open Path. This name signifies it is a path open to all regardless of religious beliefs, and more specifically that it is a spiritual path of openness, immediacy, and freshness, unbounded by concepts. In this sense it is not a path at all, but simply a living inclination of caring presence within the clear light of being.
Students of the Open Path do not have to become initiates of the Sufi Way to take part in Open Path trainings and retreats. As a mystical order, the Sufi Way stays in the background and facilitates the programs of the Open Path and other activities without drawing too much attention to itself. In this regard the Sufi Way is more a spirit of mystical continuity than an institutional entity.
The Sufi Way maintains study and practice circles in England, France, Holland, Switzerland, Germany, Canada, and America. Through its activities it gives special emphasis to bridging the differences that divide one people or religion from another.
Murshid Elias Amidon is the current spiritual director (Pir) of the Sufi Way.

Honor * Fairness * Kindness * Truth
The philosophy of The Thacher School is rooted in the wisdom and work of its founder, Sherman Day Thacher, who embraced the extraordinary natural venue of his school and sought above all else to train his students “in the art of living for their own greatest good and for the good of their fellow citizens.” He believed the most worthwhile education combined a vigorous academic life with rugged outdoor activities that engendered self-reliance, concern for others, and fidelity to four principles: honor, fairness, kindness, and truth.
Our Mission: Thacher trains young men and women in the art of living for their own greatest good and for the greatest good of their fellow citizens in a diverse and changing world. To that end, the School augments its highly challenging academic program with profound lessons learned from the care of a horse, regular chores around the School, teamwork on playing fields, outstanding instruction in the arts, the give and take of everyday life with schoolmates and teachers, and adventures shared in the wilderness. The aim is to inspire and encourage hard work, integrity, self-reliance, self-knowledge, a lifelong love of learning and truth, and a deep concern for the world in which we live.

The Unitarian Church in Charleston (Charleston, NC, USA)
The Unitarian Church in Charleston is a welcoming community of diverse individuals, engaged in journeys of spiritual exploration and growth, as people and as part of society at large. We share a common goal of making this world a better place, although our members have widely diverse beliefs and backgrounds.
For that reason, we tend to be more outwardly focused than many churches -- concentrating more on making this a better world than focusing on some possible afterlife.
This is a place where you can grow spiritually as well as helping humankind and protecting the Earth. Our many programs and social groups reflect this. For example, we have a very strong Social Justice group because we believe in doing good in this life. We also have a strong religious education program because a moral compass is crucial in a world that sees winning as everything, owning things as the path to happiness and cruelty as prime-time entertainment.

Through the Veil Productions (Atlanta, GA, USA)
For more than a decade, Michelle Griffin has been pursuing the connection between the spiritual, metaphysical, and paranormal philosophies. She conceived the idea of creating an event that bridged the gap between these three intriguing fields and it became Through The Veil. Since the first event, Through the Veil has taken on a life of its own as a spiritual meeting place where people come to experience the power of their existence. Viewing each event as a valuable stepping stone, Michelle continues to grow and share this wealth of knowledge with all who attend. Tourism for Peace (Atlanta, GA, USA)
Tourism For Peace was created in Switzerland by Dr. Gail Lash in 2003. Our mission is "To build peace by creating unity between hosts, guests and the natural environment, worldwide." We bring both "hosts" and "guests" -- those in residence of a particular country, culture or business, and those visiting it -- together to learn about Peace by understanding & appreciating diverse cultural beliefs, art, music, foods, stories, spiritual ceremonies, and by connecting with the natural world (waterfalls, mountains, oceans, and wildlife).
We use this traveling/tourism theme as a way to see our differences in a new light - as brothers and sisters from another land or area. You may come to our programs as either a host or guest - or both! Peacemaking principles (including compassion!) are taught and expressed in fun & enlightening activities, meditations, workshops, classes, performances and community service projects.
Conduct a Peace Master Plan for your company, build a Peace Trail, participate in our Peace Brain Training, experience our Peace Eco-Tours, and bring TFP Workshops, Activities, Academic Programs, and Peace Ceremonies to your neighborhood, school, zoo/aquarium, group, or organization today! May Peace Prevail On Earth!

Traitmarker (Franklin, TN, USA)
TraitMarker is a personality branding tool that determines the natural baseline of your personality: what we call a traitMark. Your personality's “natural baseline” is the average range of choices you make, including minor fluctuations outside that range.
TraitMarker benefits you if you are experiencing a major life change. Though these changes might be stressful, you can benefit from them if you understand your traitMark and make informed decisions that best vibes with your traitMark. You need traitMarker if you experience chronic stress, if you fail at commitments, if you have any doubt about your genuine personality, or if a life transition is giving you time to reflect. TraitMarker identifies the ways you make decisions and the ways your personality handles stress. Then traitMarker show you the organic part of you that is uniquely designed to alleviate that stress.
Every traitMarker assessment taker who has followed its suggestions for diminishing stress has found traitMarker to be reliable, allowing them to thrive in areas of their dominant and hidden strengths.

Transitionist Movement (Sao Paulo, Brazil)
The Transitionist Movement is a movement of the civil society organized with a purpose: put an end to the main problems of humanity through science. This includes the establishment of a scientific governmental (socioarchic) system and a scientific economic (ecoarchic) system.
The history of the movement is large. We have influences of Moshê (Moses), Yeshua (Jesus), Siddharta Gautama Buddha, Socrates, Platon, Thomas More, Etienne de La Boétie, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Henry David Thoureau, Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, Karl Marx and Rosa Maria Rodríguez Magda. But none of these influences are more substantial than that one which started with the industrial designer, social engineer (in a different sense) and visionary Jacque Fresco (1916-2017 CGGS - read note 1). He simply redesigned our civilization, making money and politics unnecessary. Is this possible? Yes, it is, and you will read about it in our guide-book, which is now being translated to english and revised (the book will be called “Scientific Solutions to the Main Problems of Humanity”).
In 2008 CGGS another visionary had the idea of making the work of Jacque Fresco known in the whole world. It was Peter Joseph, who made the documentary “Zeitgeist: Addendum”. I, Ezra Araújo, founder of the Transitionist Movement, was 16 years old when I first watched the documentary. It has changed my life and reinforced my dreams, once since I was 15 I made a promise to myself that I would change the world. In that documentary, Peter made the invitation to his social movement, named The Zeitgeist Movement. I joined in the same minute. In the online forums and meetings, the main unanswered question was: “How to make the transition for a society without money and politics”? This is the question that I took 9 years to answer, and the answer is in our guide-book.
In July, 2013 CGGS, a great mobilization happened in São Paulo, Brazil. The government wanted to increase the taxes of the buses and subways. The movement was so great that they succeeded, and the government was obligated to keep the taxes as they were. But I found an undesirable detail: the movements were not organized sufficiently to make that mobilization the beginning of what I used to call at that time “the Transmodern Revolution”. And worse: the Zeitgeist Movement didn’t participate. I saw that an unification of all “transmodern” movements would be necessary for this pacific revolution. So I created, very informally, the “Transmodernist Movement”, a work that began before me with the Brazilian poet and writer Alika Finotti.
However, since about 2018 CGGS, I broke up with the term “transmodern”, because it is Eurocentric, so I’ve adopted the terms “transition” and “transitionist”. The purpose of the movement is to unify all of the transitionist movements and NGOs around the world, like the Zeitgeist Movement, the Venus Project (which is not exactly a movement), Ubuntu Contributionism, Extinction Rebellion, New Earth Project, Greenpeace, WWF, Ashoka, Cure Violence Global, Global Ecovillages Network and, in Brazil, Fundação SOS Mata Atlântica, Tarifa Zero (Zero Tax), MTST (Movement of the Workers Without House), Instituto Regeneração Global (Institute Global Regeneration), as well as uniting anarchists and communists (yes, this is possible, and I’ll show you how on our guide-book), and other movements and NGOs that I may not know yet (if you know one or represent one, contact transitionists@gmail.com), but that are transitionist too, and the best, without any conflict at all (at least from our part).
In resume, our purpose is to proactivate the transition from the Age of Relative Domain Over The Providing Processes to the Age of Maximum Domain Over The Providing Processes, ending thirst, hunger, homelessness, poverty and war, among other dozens of problems. Sounds good to you? Go for our Departments page and join the movement on the Formulary of Affiliation! You will receive an email with our Facebook and WhatsApp groups!
The founder,
Ezra Araújo.

Treasure Human Life (Hendersonville, NC, USA)
Ven. Dr. Pannavati, a former Christian pastor, is co-founder and co-Abbot of Embracing-Simplicity Hermitage in Hendersonville, NC. A black, female Buddhist monk ordained in the Theravada and Mahayana traditions with Vajrayana empowerments and transmission from Roshi Bernie Glassman of Zen Peacemakers, she is both contemplative and empowered for compassionate service.
An international teacher, she advocates on behalf of disempowered women and youth globally, and insists on equality and respect in Buddhist life for both female monastics and lay sangha. She was a 2008 recipient of the Outstanding Buddhist Women’s Award.
In 2009, she received a special commendation from the Princess of Thailand for Humanitarian Acts and she ordained Thai Bhikkhunis, on Thai soil with Thai monks as witnesses.
In May 2010 she convened a platform of Bhikkhunis to ordain the first 10 Cambodian Samaneris in a Cambodian temple, witnessed by Cambodian abbots including Maha Thera Ven. Dhammathero Sao Khon, President of the Community of Khmer Buddhist Monks of the USA.
Ven. Pannavati continues to visit Thailand each year, ordaining, training, offering support for the nuns and assisting in their projects. In 2013 she arranged for 500 books to be sent to both elementary and secondary schools in Rayong. She is also raising funds to improve security at the compounds, as this is an utmost concern in some areas of Thailand.
Venerable is a founding circle director of Sisters of Compassionate Wisdom, a 21st century trans-lineage Buddhist Order and Sisterhood formed by Ani Drubgyuma in 2006.
In 2011, Venerable adopted 10 “untouchable” villages in India, vowing to help them establish an egalitarian community based on Buddhist principles of conduct and livelihood, providing wells, books, teachers and micro-loans for women. Approximately 30,000 people live in these villages. She has sent funds to complete their first educational center.
Ven. Pannavati founded My Place, Inc. in Hendersonville, NC, which has housed more than 75 homeless youth between the ages of 17 and 23 over the past 4 years. That effort has evolved into a separate 501(c)(3) which has its own academic platform, jobs training program, residential program and social enterprise, My Gluten Free Bread Company.
She remains committed to advocacy for the homeless, sick and disenfranchised, those who are marginalized, abused, neglected and unloved. She loves the Dhamma, lives the Dhamma and teaches the Dhamma internationally.

Advertising with heart
We have a true passion for compassion and prioritise using our skills for good over anything else.
We have always made films, and found ourselves gravitating to work with charities/non-profits anyway, but in doing some research we realised that many of these organisations would use the services of advertisers who would in turn also be working with large unethical multinationals, and thus taint the good work of the charities by proxy.
This may seem a pedantic point, but the world is becoming ever more switched on to the issue of responsible and compassionate living, and ethical business and procurement - and we want to be part of the solution.
Because of our commitment to ethical and responsible working practices, we give you the peace of mind that there will be no risk of negative association.
What's more, the fact that we put such a priority on picking the right clients, you can be assured that if we work together it will be out of an active interest in doing so, and we will get fully behind your cause. no job is ever just about the money for us.

Truth, Love, Compassion Movement (Atlanta, GA, USA)
It feels better when we heal together, than when we hurt alone.
The movement that is, truth, love, compassion is about changing the world for the betterment of everyone. There are two paths that we have to travel in order to change the world. We must have truth, love and compassion in our hearts for ourselves and we must have truth, love and compassion in our hearts for others.
We have created a world that is becoming more and more devoid of truth, love and compassion which has led to a collective suffering for all of us and that does not have to be the circumstance. The truth, love, compassion movement is about accepting ourselves and others in the moment that we are currently in and empowering one another to become better citizens for the world. What will affect me directly will at some point undoubtedly affect you indirectly and vice versa because we are all one.
The truth, love, compassion movement is about truly wanting for someone else what we want for ourselves.

Two Arrows Zen (Salt Lake City, UT, USA)
Two Arrows Zen, founded by and Diane Musho Hamilton Sensei and Michael Mugaku Zimmerman Sensei, is a center for Zen study and practice with two locations. One is a small tented zendo where retreats are held in warmer weather, the Boulder Mountain Zendo. It is located in the town of Torrey, just outside of Capitol Reef National Park in the heart of Utah's red rock country, some 3 ½ hours south of Salt Lake City. The other location is the ArtSpace Zendo, an urban center located in a renovated warehouse operated by ArtSpace City Center in Salt Lake City’s west side.
Musho Sensei and Mugaku Sensei are both Dharma successors of Genpo Merzel Roshi, whose teacher was Taezan Maezumi Roshi. Maezumi Roshi held transmission in both the Soto and Rinzai schools of Zen.
Retreats offered at the Boulder Mountain Zendo in Torrey take place in a traditional Zen sesshin structure. There is intensive zazen, dharma talks, and interviews with the teacher. In addition, there are innovative elements, such as hikes into the desert or mountains for sitting and teachings, and the use of Ken Wilber’s Integral Theory as a perceptual frame and the Big Mind Process. At the ArtSpace Zendo there is daily morning sitting, service and interviews with the teacher, as well as evening sittings, talks, and regular day-long intensive practice periods--Days of Zen.
Two Arrows Zen employs innovative remote teaching methods, including tele-courses, virtual temple days, and on-line koan study. The program of study and practice is designed to appeal to a broad audience, to those in the mainstream, including householders who raise children, hold jobs, and seek liberation within that life plan.

Metropolitan Community Churches and the Charter for Compassion
Statement of Alignment
Metropolitan Community Church is compelled by an unfinished calling and a prophetic destiny. We are a global movement of spiritually and sexually diverse people who are fully awake to God’s enduring love. Following the example of Jesus and empowered by the Spirit, we seek to build leading-edge church communities that demand, proclaim, and do justice in the world.
We agree with the Charter for Compassion that “all human beings—not just those with whom we share a community—urgently need our compassion, and the conviction that we must act to provide such compassion wherever there is suffering.” In local communities around the world, people of other faiths and no faith are often found working alongside us feeding the hungry, alleviating suffering, and working for justice.
We are motivated by Love – Love of the Divine, Love for all our Neighbors, and Love for Self.
Our Core Values reflect our commitments:
Inclusion
Love is our greatest moral value and resisting exclusion is a primary focus of our ministry. We want to continue to be conduits of faith where everyone is included in the family of God and where all parts of our being are welcomed at God’s table.
Community
Offering a safe and open community for people to worship, learn, and grow in their faith is our deep desire. We are committed to equipping ourselves and each other to do the work that God has called us to do in the world.
Spiritual Transformation
Providing a message of liberation from the oppressive religious environment of our day or to those experiencing God for the first time is what guides our ministry. We believe that when people are invited to experience God through the life and ministry of Christ, lives will be transformed.
Justice
Working to talk less and do more, we are committed to resisting the structures that oppress people and standing with those who suffer under the weight of oppressive systems, being guided always by our commitment to Global Human Rights.
As a spiritual organization well rooted in the LGBTQ+ community, yet welcoming all, we believe we have contributions to make, in particular to the LGBTQ+ Initiative of the Charter for Compassion.

Union Theological Seminary (New York City, NY)
Union Theological Seminary has always embodied the freedom to learn and the freedom to teach ideals that may be more critical than ever to churches and society at this moment in history. Founded in 1836, Union forged a new vision for theological education: to center ministerial training in an urban context so that academic excellence and personal faith might respond to the needs of the city.
Today, a new Union in a world city remains faithful to that vision. With roots that are firmly planted in the Protestant, Reformed tradition, the Seminary continues to reform itself in response to the changing needs of the world and an evolving understanding of what it means to be faithful.

Unitarian Church of Calgary (Calgary, AB, Canada)
We come together in beloved community, guided by our Unitarian Universalist principles and sources, to grow in wisdom, welcome and deepen relationships, and act for a just and sustainable world.
The statement is structured such that the conditions under which we come together (“beloved community” and “UU principles and sources”) are stated up front. From there, three bullet points or goals progress from the individual (“grow in wisdom”), to the church community (“welcome and deepen relationships”), and to the world (“act for a just and sustainable world”).
We come together
This phrase gives a warm opening and says that in order for the church to exist, we must come together and bring our energy and resources (Latham’s elements of “identity of people” and “means of fulfillment”). WEare the church.
in beloved community,
The word “beloved” was chosen not only because of its dictionary meaning of “loved” or “dear to the heart,” but also because of its larger meaning of an inclusive vision of humankind striving together for peace and justice as popularized by Martin Luther King Jr.’s concept of beloved community. It defines the way we are with each other.
guided by our Unitarian Universalist principles and sources,
This phrase identifies our common ground – the seven UU principles and six sources of our faith. It also satisfies Latham’s elements of “source of authority” and “posture towards truth.” The phrase covers a large amount of philosophical material that does not have to be repeated in the Purpose Statement itself.
to grow in wisdom,
The word “wisdom” was chosen to encompass philosophical, spiritual, ethical and intellectual growth – ideas that came up at the April congregational workshop.
welcome and deepen relationships,
This phrase refers to the connections that happen within our church community, although it can also relate to non-church relationships – even relationships with the divine. Relationships can only deepen in an environment of compassion, trust and acceptance, thus all these elements are implied in the phrase. “Welcome” emphasizes the concept of outreach to form new relationships, as well as being an oblique reference to our status as a Welcoming Congregation.
and act for a just and sustainable world
The word “act” was chosen for its specific call to deeds. The words “just” and “sustainable” express ideas about social and environmental action that couldn’t be easily captured in one word.

Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations (Boston, MA, USA)
The Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) is a religious organization that combines two traditions: the Universalists, who organized in 1793, and the Unitarians, who organized in 1825. They consolidated into the UUA in 1961.
Both groups trace their roots in North America to the early Massachusetts settlers and to the founders of the Republic. Overseas, their heritages reach back centuries to pioneers in England, Poland, and Transylvania.
Each of the 1,041 congregations in the United States, Canada, and overseas are democratic in polity and operation; they govern themselves. They unite in the Association to provide services that individual congregations cannot provide for themselves. Each congregation is associated with one of the UUA's 19 districts.
Unitarian Universalism is a liberal religion with Jewish-Christian roots. It has no creed. It affirms the worth of human beings, advocates freedom of belief and the search for advancing truth, and tries to provide a warm, open, supportive community for people who believe that ethical living is the supreme witness of religion.

Family Promise – a number of members of the congregation have been involved in the organizing meetings for this inter-faith program to help homeless families in our area. We have made a $1000 donation to help the program get started. UUFB is a supporting congregation and paired with another church which has the space to house homeless families. UUFB is responsible for helping to provide meals, stay overnight at times and other ways to help.
HELP Sunday – The first Sunday of each month, donations of food and clothing are collected forHELP of Beaufort, a non-profit that helps feed and clothe people in the Beaufort community.
Fifth Sunday collections – There are four “Fifth Sundays” in the calendar year. The social justice committee designates each one of them for our offering at the Sunday service.
Support for racial equality – UUFB participates in the Martin Luther King Day parade and in the November Heritage Days at Penn Center. For the past two years we have committed monies for two tables at the Penn Center Gala fund raising event in May. The Penn Center event corresponds with the congregations birthday celebration of Laura Towne, a Unitarian who is a co-founder of Penn School in 1862.
KIVA –we have invested in micro-enterprise projects in the developing world. This is a revolving loan program so money is being paid back regularly.
New Year’s Day Peace Vigil – This witness for peace is well-attended and led by our minister. The vigil has been held for many years and recalls the names of each military man or woman who has died since the beginning of the Iraq war.

Unitarian Universalists of Puna (Kea'au, HI, USA)
About
We believe that the search for truth and meaning is one we explore together and is not dictated by dogma. We find wisdom in many places, and we don't believe there is a single "Truth." You are most welcome to join us in our quest.
Mission
Unitarian Universalists covenant to affirm and promote:
The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;
Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
General Information
If a number of these statements reflect, to one degree or another, your own thoughts and feelings, experiences and searchings, there is probably an exciting place for you in our Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Puna.
I believe in the right of every person to make his or her own choice about what he or she believes and values.
I cannot identify my beliefs with any particular creed or doctrine.
I believe that ultimate truth is an emerging experimental thing, not finished and complete.
I believe a child should be encouraged to discover religion in his or her unfolding life rather than have it forced upon him or her through a process of dogmatic indoctrination.
I believe a church can be an effective organization and still urge each member to be her or his free individual self.
I want a church where people from many religious and spiritual backgrounds -- Agnostic, Atheist, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, Mystic, Zoroastrian, etc. -- are all welcomed as full-fledged members without conversion or renunciation.
I want a church which speaks warmly of salvation in terms of consciousness, self-knowledge, and self-management skills, of character and deeds; where achievement is more dependent on social responsibility and action less than ceremonies, sacraments, catechisms and creeds.
I believe that people are punished by their sins, not for them, and that the evil people do lives with them.
I hold in reverence the interconnectedness and interdependence of all creation.
I believe salvation results from ethical living, problem solving, moral achievement; and aversion to sanctimony and bigotry in all its forms -- ageism, racism, sexism, etc.
I want a church where I can be free to wonder about -- even doubt -- the existence of a Supreme Being, the nature of the Source of all life, the effectiveness of prayer and meditation, the possibility of immortality, and still be spiritual or religious; a church that calls no honest doubt heresy and where heretics are welcome.
These are some of the questions adapted by Robert Wayne Johnston of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Amherst, Massachusetts, from Jack Mendelson's BEING A LIBERAL IN AN ILLIBERAL AGE, Beacon Press, Boston, 1985.

Unity Church of Charleston (Charleston, SC, USA)
UNITY IS A POSITIVE PATH TO SPIRITUAL LIVING
Unity is a positive, progressive approach to Christianity. We believe there are many paths to God and respect them all. We are more spiritual than religious. We believe the following:
There is only one force in the universe, God the Good.
We believe all humans to be spiritual in essence, and therefore good. This is emphasized as opposed to that part of our human nature which may do wrong. Our spiritual nature is much more powerful than our human nature!
We believe our thoughts create our reality . "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he" from Proverbs.
Prayer and Meditation are the basic tools whereby we know our at-one-ment with God, and manifest God's good in our life and in the world.
We put these principles in ACTION on a day to day basis.
Statement of Peace:
Unity stands for peace in the presence of conflict; for love in the presence of hatred; for forgiveness in the presence of injury. Unity honors the many names for God, the many paths to God, the many ways to worship God; for there is only one power and presence of God and that God loves each one of us equally. It is therefore the position of The International Association of Unity Churches and Unity to urge all nations, their leaders, and their people to turn to God by whatever the name for guidance during these challenging times and pursue peace, not war, for this is what honors the God of all our faith traditions. Unity stands for peace in our lifetime.
Statement of Unity, Diversity, and "Inclusivity":
Unity Church of Charleston believes in the oneness and unity of all humankind. We believe that all people are created with sacred worth and that we are stronger because we are different. We recognize the importance of serving all people in spiritually and emotionally caring ways. Our ministry and outreaches are free of discrimination on the basis of race, color, gender, age, creed, religion, national origin, ethnicity, physical disability or sexual orientation. It is with love and in celebration of our unity, in the midst of our wondrous diversity, that we affirm this position.

Unity of Fayetteville (Fayetteville, AR, USA)
Welcome to the Unity Movement
God
God is Spirit, the loving source of all that is. God is the one power, all good, everywhere present, all wisdom. God is divine energy, continually creating, expressing and sustaining all creation. In God, we live and move and have our being. In Unity, some other ways we speak of God are Life, Light, Love, Substance, Principle, Law and Universal Mind.
The Nature of Humankind
We are each individual, eternal expressions of God. Our essential nature is divine and therefore inherently good. Our purpose is to express our divine potential as realized and demonstrated by Jesus and other master teachers. The more we awaken to our divine nature, the more fully God expresses in and through our lives.
Our Teachings
• Heaven is not a place, but a state of consciousness; we create our own heaven and hell here and now.
• We all have an innate capacity to know God through direct experience.
• The “Christ” is that part of God that is in every person. There is a spark of divinity within all people, just as there was in Jesus.
• Prayer works.
• We are here to set a positive example and be a role model for others.
• We are here to make the world a better place.
Jesus
We believe that Jesus expressed his divine potential and sought to show humankind how to express ours as well. We see Jesus as a master teacher of universal truths and as our Way Shower. In Unity, we use the term Christ to mean the divinity in humankind. Jesus is the great example of the Christ in expression.
The Bible
Unity founders Charles and Myrtle Fillmore studied the Bible as history and allegory and interpreted it as a metaphysical representation of humankind's evolutionary journey toward spiritual awakening. In addition, Unity recognizes that the Bible is a complex collection of writings compiled over many centuries. We honor the writings as reflecting the understanding and inspiration of the writers at the time they were written. The Bible continues to be a valuable spiritual resource for us.
Prayer and Meditation
Affirmative prayer is the highest form of creative thought. It includes the release of counterproductive, negative thoughts, as well as holding in mind statements of spiritual truth. Through meditation, we experience the presence of God. Prayer and meditation heighten our awareness and thereby transform our lives.

Unity of Peace (Woodinville, WA, USA)
For many, coming to a Unity center is a spiritual homecoming. It is not uncommon for people to find Unity a place where they can make peace with the perplexing questions of faith and find practical and positive teachings that enrich their lives. Here is a community that accepts and supports peaceful, diverse ideas as expressions of our essential spiritual nature. In an atmosphere of respect, we seek to explore the timeless, universal themes of the sacred and our connection to God, by whatever name.
Unity is a worldwide spiritual movement founded in the 1889. It was a time of spiritual renewal and rejection of formal religious dogmas and creeds. A core belief of Unity founders, Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, is that rather than being separate and alienated from creation, we are all expressions of the sacred. It was their vision that through a life of meditation, study and with an attitude of prayer, we might come to know ourselves and each other as the beloved and belonging to God.
Unity’s teachings are culturally Christian and spiritually inclusive. Unity interprets scriptures metaphysically. Jesus as teacher and way shower is a primary source of inspiration and insight. We look for both personal and universal meaning in the Jesus stories and the stories and teachings from other faith traditions.
While we do not have a formal creed or doctrine, we do have Five Basic Unity Principles that we continually explore together. It is not necessary to believe in these principles to experience Unity. Their purpose is to focus our intention, conversation, and practice.
God as the source of all life is ultimate Good. Nothing can stand in opposition to God. The inclusive nature of this goodness holds all of creation in its energetic field.
Humankind is birthed by God, the good, and therefore our essential nature is a reflection of God’s goodness.
We can become more aware of our connection to God, our Source, through a practice of meditation and prayer.
Our thoughts are creative and shape our experience of reality. This calls us to become more aware and responsible for how and what we think.
All our interior, spiritual work ultimately motivates us to compassionately serve others.

Veda9 (Singapore, Singapore)
Veda is derived from an old Sanskrit word which means knowledge. It is the philosophy of the band, Veda9, to promote knowledge to people of all ages.
Veda9 was formed in 2007 by a group of local artists with a specific mission of promoting a holistic lifestyle through their brand of spiritual music. The group believes in going back to basics by using acoustic musical instruments to express various music genres.
Idrus, the leader of the group, put together a team of young and experienced musicians from diverse musical disciplines to create a sound that fuses the spirit of the East with Western melodies – resulting in an original blend of world music.
The group first played to a full audience at The Arts House in August 2008. They were subsequently invited to perform at the World Music Festival in Gyeongnam, Korea in July 2009. There, their music was well-received by both the locals and international audience. But more importantly, the experience gave invaluable exposure and confidence to the younger team members.
Veda9 full-fledged concert was held at The Republic Cultural Centre (Republic Polytechnic) on 19th December 2009. In March, a more intimate performance entitled ‘Divine Intervention’ was held at The Arts House’s Play Den. In November 2011, Veda9 made a special appearance in a recital by an English artist. Juliet Howland’s ‘A Promise Of Return’ that was held at Esplanade Recital Studio.
Their debut album Existence was launched in April 2012 with a concert at Esplanade Recital Studio.

Venice Peace Project (Venice, FL, USA)
Venice Peace Project (VPP) began in November 7, 2013 as a result of a desire of citizens in the Venice community to live and work in a more peaceful environment.
Our vision is “Peace in our hearts, peace in our community, and peace in our world.”
Our mission is “…to promote and inspire peace in our hearts, peace in our community, and peace on earth through outreach to schools, organizations, and individuals through talks, books, movies, plays, music, documentaries, poetry, peace poles and other symbols of peace."
We accomplish our vision and mission through education, activities that stimulate conversations about peace, and placement of symbols of peace, Peace Poles, throughout the city and the county. To date, VPP has been involved in the placement of 17 Peace Poles in our community, held over 60 events in the community, consisting of peace movies, workshops, meditations, annual celebrations of International Peace Day, and special children's art programs to teach about peace.

Veterans for Peace Chapter 27 (Stillwater, MN, USA)
Creating a Culture of Peace and Nonviolence
We, having dutifully served our nation, do hereby affirm our greater responsibility to serve the cause of world peace. To this end we will work, with others
To increase public awareness of the costs of war.
To restrain our government from intervening, overtly and covertly, in the internal affairs of other nations.
To end the arms race and to reduce and eventually eliminate nuclear weapons.
To seek justice for veterans and victims of war.
To abolish war as an instrument of national policy.
To achieve these goals, members of Veterans For Peace pledge to use non-violent means and to maintain an organization that is both democratic and open with the understanding that all members are trusted to act in the best interests of the group for the larger purpose of world peace. Beyond these principles, we are members of Minnesota Alliance of Peacemakers which promote the Charter for Compassion.

Virtues Circle (St. Petersburg, FL, USA)
Who we are
The Virtues Circle is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring others to live by universal virtues in their daily lives to promote tolerance, unity, integrity and joy. Our mission is to inspire happiness and purpose through the practice of virtues.
What we do
We educate others on how to cultivate and develop their character strengths through workshops on the 5 Strategies of The Virtue Project™ .
The Virtues Project™?
The Virtues Project™ is a global grassroots initiative to inspire the practice of virtues in everyday life. It is endorsed by the United Nations and the Dalai Lama and is a model program for families and communities of all cultures and beliefs.
The 5 Strategies are founded on the belief that we are born with all the virtues in potential, and that when parents and educators help cultivate the virtues in children, we can change the world.
The 5 Strategies in Personal and Global Transformation
Linda Kavelin Popov, one of the founders of The Virtues Project, shares how the strategies can be used as personal and global
transformation.
What are the 5 strategies of The Virtues Project™?
Speak the Language of the Virtues - Use language to encourage and inspire. We can acknowledge, guide, and correct using Virtues based language, calling others to the best aspects already within them.
Recognize Teachable Moments - Turn mistakes into opportunities for learning. Instead of criticizing, name calling or punishing, use difficulties as an opportunity to strengthen in a particular virtue. Using restorative justice instead of punitive justice allows for amends to be made and understanding to grow.
Set Clear Boundaries - Create an atmosphere of peace and safety by setting boundaries that are clear, specific, measurable and observable. Have relevant meaningful consequences that inspire mastery.
Honor the Spirit - Take time to be mindful and reverent with yourself and others, remembering that we are all human beings, not human doings.
Offer Companioning - Learn how to be a discerning, compassionate listener and allow others to access their own inner wisdom. Be a guide not a dictator with children, empowering them to access the best of themselves.

Voices for Creative Nonviolence (Chicago, IL, USA)
Voices for Creative Nonviolence has long-standing roots in active nonviolent resistance to U.S. war-making. Begun in the summer of 2005, Voices draws from the experiences of those who challenged the brutal economic sanctions imposed by the U.S. and U.N. against the Iraqi people between 1990 and 2003.
Members of Voices led over 70 delegations to Iraq to challenge the economic sanctions and were present in Baghdad in resistance the 2003 U.S. military invasion. Since 2009, Voices has led delegations to Afghanistan to listen and learn from nonviolent grassroots movements and to raise awareness about the negative impacts of U.S. militarism in the region.
We are on the precipice of a full blown world war if one is not already under way. And we ask: what must our response be? And our answer- as tentative, grappling, searching and seeking as it may be- is that it falls upon us as citizens of the country initiating this world war to utilize all nonviolent means available to turn off war- to engage the electoral and legislative process, most definitely; to protest, of course; and to march and demonstrate.
We must also move from protest to active nonviolent resistance. We must withdraw our collaboration and complicity with this system and use our bodies and lives as a means to bring the machinery of death to a grinding halt. Nonviolence cannot be a single day event- it must be a commitment we make and act upon every day of our lives.
What might this active nonviolent resistance look like? And how might we act in solidarity with the Iraqi and Afghan peoples and others who find themselves in the crosshairs of U.S. war-making?
Voices is committed to strategic campaigns and experiments. We engage in active nonviolent resistance. Such resistance must take into account that war-making is both military and economic.

These inspiring senior citizens (mostly women) meet most days to sing, play sports and games, create, pray and eat together. The atmosphere is one of joy and reverence, and the welcome I receive, with whatever visitors I may have brought along, is second to none.
Hope in the Heart is proud and honoured to work in partnership with Vuka Uzenzele Pimville Oldies. Whenever we visit we bring gifts from people in the UK who have been inspired by our photos and videos of the Gogos, and we take back much more than material gifts when we leave.

Washington Plaza Apartments Residents Council (Fayetteville, AR, USA)
The original resident volunteer commodities group was formed in February of 2010 and the Residents Council was organized (with bylaws and election of resident members) in May, 2010. The current commodities program under the auspices of The Bread of Life Ministry adheres to USDA income and qualified applicant guidelines.
Washington Plaza Apartments is a HUD-subsidized, low income, multi-family housing complex in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The property is managed by M.T. Graham & Associates, Inc., headquartered in Little Rock, and governed by a nonprofit Board of Directors (TG-101, Inc.) which includes resident member representation.
The WPA Residents Council was a natural extension of the original resident volunteer support and establishment of an on-site commodities food bank, with management and Board support and the vitally valuable assistance of The Bread of Life Ministry of The First United Methodist Church of Springdale.
We were able to rescue and re-establish the commodities program, which previous management had discontinued, with the gracious guidance of Bread of Life. We have succeeded in growing the program from zero to today’s present service reach of 81 households (of the 128 total WPA apartment units) benefiting 111 individuals each month.
In October of 2012, we moved into our new Commodities Center, thanks to everyone who Volunteered their time, in helping with cleaning, painting, tiling the bathroom floor, fixing light and electrical fixtures, and moving our commodities from our old center to the new one.

What Will Your Legacy Be? (Rexford, NY, USA)
Using Philanthropy as a tool Susan Axelrod helps to create powerful connections, lasting legacies....and life-changing meaning for any who dare to dream of living a more meaningful life and existence.
"My work as a fundraising executive has led me to my personal mission of educating practically every person I meet that each of us can create a lasting and meaningful legacy regardless of financial resources that can positively impact the world.
You just have to figure out what's important to you, and then DO something about it...continually, powerfully, and with pure intention. It was in 2004 that I first had a business card printed that says, "What Will Your Legacy Be?" and integrated it into my life's work. I have been talking about it ever since. My goal is to help turn regular people into philanthropists encouraging legacy creation at every turn and having a positive impact in the world."

Williamsburg Buddhist Sangha (Williamsburg, VA, USA)
The Williamsburg Buddhist Sangha is a manifestation of the visioning of Williamsburg area students of Buddhism and meditation yearning for a community for practice and learning.
In keeping with Buddhist tradition, the WBS is supported entirely by Dana—free will contributions by members and others to acknowledge the value they have receive and to practice generosity. According to the Buddha, generosity or sharing what we have is one of the central pillars of spiritual life. In the act of giving we develop our ability to let go, cultivate a spirit of caring and acknowledge our shared interconnectedness. The practice of dana has kept Buddhism alive for more than 2,500 years – an interdependence between those who offer its teachings and those who receive them.
The practical expression of this principle is that there will never be a fee – or even expectation of a donation – for participating in a Sangha activity. We hope that those who find value in our activities will support them to the extent they are able to do so, financially or as a volunteer, or both – and our operations will depend upon that support.
Mission:
The purpose of the Williamsburg Buddhist Sangha is to provide residents of Williamsburg and the surrounding areas a community for mindful, spiritual growth and practice. It welcomes diverse points of view among Buddhist traditions, will be supported by trained teachers, and will offer a regular schedule of dharma teachings, meditation practice, and special events.
All are welcome!

WISDOM (Bloomfield Hills, MI, USA)
WISDOM brings together women of different faith traditions and their families and friends to build respect and understanding, to dispel myths, stereotypes, prejudices, and fear about different faith traditions.
With tensions in the Middle East, Iraq, and Darfur constantly in the news, and with communities of faith in Metro Detroit becoming more and more segregated from each other, we want to empower Women’s Interfaith Solutions for Dialogue and Outreach in Metro Detroit to give women opportunities to listen to each other, respect each other’s differences, and take action towards change. We at WISDOM hope to establish venues for community service projects to help “repair the world,” while having the chance to dialogue with women of different faiths whom we don’t usually meet in our sheltered circle of friends and family. We also hope to arrange educational opportunities at our diverse places of worship to learn about each other’s religions with an empathy and spiritual energy that will strengthen friendships. We invite you to join our journeys towards celebrating Detroit’s religious diversity, while expanding and intensifying our knowledge about each other in order to dispel myths, stereotypes, prejudices, and fear that exist with lack of understanding.

Wisdom Circle Ministries (Brighton, MI, USA)
This ministry is about bringing form to the amazing spiritual energy of people seeking peace, compassion and sustainability for themselves and the world.
The intention of Wisdom Circle Ministries is to co-create a world where all life is valued and celebrated. We will do this by assisting people who are seeking the deeper meaning of their life experience during and after the current challenging times of accelerated changes. The result of this co-creation will be a global expansion of consciousness, a sustainable world of balance, a world of peace and compassion and a world where love is the catalyst for change.
What is a Wisdom Circle?
The focus of a Wisdom Circle is dialogue, exploring, learning together, and supporting each other as we all navigate through this "Shift".
When we create a safe space to sit in a circle with our peers, listen deeply and speak from our heart, a collective wisdom, greater than our individual wisdom is created. This wisdom is then placed in the middle of the circle where we can draw new insights from our own deepest self, the group wisdom and from Spirit. A call to action may result from this wisdom and Wisdom Circle Ministries will assist the Circle in answering that call to action.
We believe that wisdom resides inherently within everyone. We also believe that we are at a point in our evolution when we must call forth our individual wisdom to co-create a collective wisdom that will shift humanity and our planet towards a more peaceful, compassionate and sustainable existence. We believe that Wisdom Circles are one way to do this.

Wisdom House Denver: A Center for Multifaith Engagement and Spiritual Inquiry (Denver, CO, USA)
Wisdom House Denver is a center for multifaith engagement and spiritual inquiry. Founded by Rabbi Stephen Booth-Nadav, WHD will offer opportunities to deepen connection with ones own tradition, and to learn about others.
As Samir Selmanovic says: “For religion to recapture human imagination, the theology and practice of finding God in the other will have to move from the outskirts of our religious experience to its center. The heart of a religion that will bless the world will beat at its edges.... We are realizing that our relationship with the other and our relationship with the Divine Other are inextricably intertwined. Now we have the responsibility and the right to seek and find “sacred space” outside the walls of our religions. What an opportunity!” (“It’s Really All About God,” by Samir Selmanovic)
Wisdom House Denver will be that opportunity! WISDOM HOUSE DENVER is a coalition of teachers, leaders, and practitioners joining in community to offer speakers, programs, classes, practice groups, and more,.... designed to deepen knowledge, connection and practice in individual faith traditions, to strengthen understanding and true relationship with the faith traditions of others, and to touch the Spirit that underlies them all.
We offer these services to any individual. We offer services to clergy and coalitions of clergy in the Denver Metro area. Woman's Exchange of St. Augustine (St. Augustine, FL, USA)
The Woman’s Exchange of St. Augustine, founded in 1892, is a non-profit organization and part of the National Federation of Woman’s Exchanges. Federation members follow in the footsteps of women in the 19th century who began Woman’s Exchanges to help other women who had fallen on hard times. These women discretely placed their handmade items and home-cooked food in Exchanges where they were sold. Some of those 19th century Woman’s Exchanges are still in business today and are members of the Federation.
Members of the Woman’s Exchange of St. Augustine are committed to our mission of “women helping women.” We work to support the Peña-Peck House Museum, to give handcrafters a venue for selling their products, and to provide scholarships for deserving women who are returning to school to prepare for new careers.
To accomplish our goals, we raise funds from guided tours, gift shop sales, luncheons, weddings, receptions and other special events.
When you shop at a Federation member Woman’s Exchange, you are helping a consignor achieve economic stability, promoting handcrafts, and providing a unique gift for yourself or someone else.

Women's Climate Congress (Canberra, Australia)
The Women's Climate Congress is a network of women from all walks of life and political views. We have come together now because we cannot stay silent while the unfolding climate emergency threatens the future of our children and all life on Earth. We will work with open minds to inspire mediation and collaboration across political parties to overcome current roadblocks to a just and sustainable future.
We accept the scientific consensus expressed in the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports and incorporated into the Paris Accord. As beneficiaries of the industrial age, we suspend judgment on the leadership decisions that have brought us here. Our mission is future-focused and will be a catalyst for united and creative change to restore climate balance and a renewed commitment to care for life on Earth.
We believe that it is time for women to lead the cultural change needed because their leadership style can help rebalance our currently stuck system towards compassion, inclusion and collaboration. To bring women’s voices to the fore, we will design processes that suit women’s schedules and ways of working together – through local groups, workshops and national congress as required. Through these gatherings, we will develop and model principles for the cultural shifts we seek to prioritise nurture of life and custodianship of the Earth in policy decisions. We will progressively promote these principles across all genders and parties to build trust that collaborative processes can serve the common good, and allow mediation of currently blocked policy pathways.

Women's Homelessness Initiative (Denver, CO, USA)
On any given night in Denver there are 800 women on the streets, many of whom have no place to sleep at night. They're vulnerable to violence and abuse," said the Rev. Diana Flahive, coordinator of the Women's Homelessness Initiative, a project established by Capitol Hill United Ministries (CHUM) to address the plight of homeless women. "Our purpose is to provide sanctuary for twenty of those women, every night, year round. We offer them dignity, care, compassion, presence, and respect."
Who are these women?
"They could be any one of us if our lives took a different turn," Flahive said. "We've had elderly women with dementia, a woman with Cerebral Palsy in a wheel chair, a 45 year old who's pregnant with twins. We even had one who'd been a teacher for 20 years. She made some bad financial decisions and lost everything."
The homeless issue "just kind of dropped in my lap," she said. In October of 2011, a group of ministers got together at the invitation of Rebecca Crummey, a former priest at St. John's Episcopal Church, to discuss the situation. They established three goals for themselves: to offer sanctuary, to educate others about the issues, and to advocate for better solutions for the homeless.
"Out of that we devised a concept where seven churches would each host 20 homeless women once a week," Flahive said. "We also partnered with St. Francis Center, a day shelter for the homeless. Every morning at 8:30 they conduct a lottery to select the twenty who will get a place for the night."
The Women's Homeless Initiative is run totally by volunteers who take turns setting up the space, cooking a meal, spending the night, and handing out the breakfast bags in the mornings. In their first year they put in 20,000 volunteer hours, providing over $35,000 worth of in-kind services.
At the heart of the program sits Diana Flahive, connecting resources and people, meeting challenges, and solving logistical problems as they arise. "I'm on the phone a lot," she said, "making sure our volunteers have what they need, looking for partner churches, and recruiting volunteers."
For Flahive, though, it's about more than just bricks and mortar. "It's about opening up another part of yourself," she said. "Just like the rest of us, people who are homeless want to be seen, heard, and known. So when I see somebody standing on a corner holding a sign, I don't give them money. I talk to them; 'How are you today? Did you have a place to sleep last night? My name is Diana. What's your name?'"
Is there a solution to the problem of homelessness in Denver?
"Serve. Educate. Advocate," she said. "If we're a civil society, where should our money be going? There are lots of people out there doing good things, but we need resources and a change of heart. Where I'm at right now, I don't understand all the suffering in the world. I hope there is Justice. I used to think I could change the world. Now I know I can only do what's right in front of me. But still it pains me to see so much suffering out there."
Last January, Rev. Diana Flahive and CHUM (Capitol Hill United Ministries) received the Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods "2012 Good Neighbor Award" for their work with Denver's homeless women.

World Happiness Foundation (Miami, FL, USA)
We support those leaders, communities, and institutions that are realizing a world with freedom, consciousness, and happiness, for all.
The world we have created as a species is far from being the place to be proud of. However, there are people and institutions who work tirelessly to make the world better, whether at a small or a large scale.
Luckily there are entrepreneurs, founders, thinkers, ideologues, teachers, investors, architects, chefs, doctors, consultants, artists and many more that are able to generate value and unique experiences that make others happy.
There are also organizations, corporations, institutions, companies and initiatives that innovate intelligently, educate holistically and create ecosystems of influence that allow humans being free, conscious and happy.
The Foundation Brands & Rousers aims to support those leaders and institutions that are making the world a happier place for humans. So we encourage and reward smart innovation, holistic education and research and activism to achieve that happiness is within reach of the largest number of people.

Yoga 4 A Good Hood (Rochester, NY, USA)
Yoga 4 A Good Hood seeks to restore peace of mind, peace of heart and peace within the community on and off the mat.
As I have practiced yoga over the years, off and on, I have noticed the lack of people of color and persons of certain economic background's accessibility to a yoga practice. For many within our communities, it is a practice that is out of reach and not in touch with the realities of what they are experiencing. Not only that, for many, they have expressed that they see no benefit in having a yoga practice because they have to go back to the hell of a life.
As a woman of color, that comes from brokenness, experienced hardship and struggle, abuse and self-degradation, I understand the need for peace in one's life. The book, "Living Buddha, Living Christ" by Thich Nhat Hanh has been an inspiration for creating a balance in my practice on the mat and off the mat. I strongly believe that bringing Yoga For A Good Hood into the city of Rochester will begin to address the issues of brokenness, hardship, struggle, abuse and self-degradation and people will find peace within instead of always seeking something outside of themselves.
You see, my AHA! moment was that between my journey of entering into yoga teacher certification, facing the stereotypes that I don't look like the average yogi, bringing yoga training to young people and not so young people of color I realized that I want peace not just for me because Yoga is bigger than just me...
I believe this project will help bring; Peace of mind for all; Peace of heart for all; Peace of community. And in turn, we all can say with confidence - Blessed are the peace-makers and be called children of God. Whatever that looks like or defined as - for us individually in our communities.

Zain Hashmi (Islamabad, Pakistan)
About the Book:
A Blessed Olive Tree is a series of short stories that will take you on a spiritual journey. It begins by exploring the reason for our existence, and then it moves on to highlight the reasoning behind the five pillars of Islam. After touching upon “Shariah” (the religious law), you will enter the land of “Tariqa” (the mystical path) to explore love, loving, and being loved. You will then come across “Haqiqa” (the truth), and find answers to some of the queries in your mind. You will finally experience the land of “Marifa” (gnosis), and catch a glimpse of the ultimate connection with the Divine. This entire journey is covered in twenty simple short stories.
About the Author:
Zain Hashmi was born in Lahore, Pakistan in 1976. In his early years, he lived in various cities in Pakistan, and in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Having also lived in Toronto, Canada he has experienced life in both the East and West. He is an MBA by education, and runs a consulting firm.
Zain Hashmi is from a family of Sufi saints. He is named after his great grandfather, the last Sufi saint in his lineage, who died in 1942. He is a descendant of Baha ud-Din Zakariya, a prominent 13th-century Sufi saint of the sub-continent who belonged to the clan of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Banu Hashim.

Zeitgeist (Atlanta, GA, USA)
Zeitgeist Mission
Education, growth and community for the spiritually independent
Our Vision
We create opportunities for spiritually oriented people to connect with teaching, events, and one another in an environment that supports contemplative, interfaith and perennial values.
Why are we doing what we do?
The future of spirituality will not be limited to traditional faith institutions or paradigms.
Studies show that more and more people are turning toward new ways of experiencing Something Bigger than themselves.
Those who are not attached to a traditional theology or church community may not be aware of alternative ways to grow their spiritual understanding, experience, and friendships.
Zeitgeist creates connection for those seeking growth, whether through dedication to a particular faith tradition, with an independent approach, or as a self identified, “none of the above”.
We believe
The Truth lives in many faith traditions, and also beyond them
Authenticity is critical in our relationship with The Divine and others
Inclusion, diversity, and cultural humility connect us in Great Love
Contemplative & non-dual spirituality grow us beyond the limits of institutional constructs
“The spirit of the era" can deepen our connection with Spirit

Zoom Group (Louisville, KY, USA)
MISSION
To help adults with developmental disabilities choose their vocation and reach their full potential, through a continuum of services including: job training, employment services and involvement in the community.
Since 1986 Zoom Group has been dedicated to the strictest ethical standards.
Commitments of the Zoom Group community
Zoom Group employees are committed to approaching each team member, fellow staff member, and community member with the following values in mind:
Integrity
Integrity forms the foundation of our organization. It means doing what is right and loving what is right. Each member of our community will act with honesty, and each action will be consistent with our mission and values. When we act as an organization, we will ask, “Is this consistent with our mission and values?”
Professionalism
Professionalism means that we will follow ethical standards for our interpersonal interactions, rather than acting based on personal feelings or motives. Our interpersonal interactions will be based upon what is best for the team member, the organization, and the wider community. We will look for the best in everyone, including ourselves. We will expect the best of everyone, including ourselves.
Respect
Respect means treating others as we would like to be treated if we were in their shoes. Everyone we interact with is an equally valuable community member. We commit to valuing each individual’s opinions, beliefs, and personal boundaries.
Humility
Humility is the recognition that you are no more and no less valuable than any other member of the community. Approaching other people with humility encourages open communication. Humility is necessary to be a good listener. We believe that everyone in the Zoom Group community has something to teach, as well as something to learn.
Kindness
Kindness means acting with a considerate nature. Kindness requires empathy – striving to understand and feel the concerns, the happiness and the sadness, and the hopes of the people with whom we interact. Our speech and our conduct will be seasoned with kindness.
Joy
Joy is positive energy and happiness. Each interpersonal interaction is an opportunity to be a source of joy. Joy inspires optimism. Joy also inspires creativity. And a little sense of humor goes a long way.
Creativity
Creativity means we are willing and able to look at things in new ways or from a different perspective. We approach each day with a creative spirit, and use our unique talents, gifts, and abilities to generate innovative and useful solutions to any challenge we encounter.
