Youth Ambassadors is a diverse community of committed and inspiring teens ranging from sixth graders to university students. This group of young leaders strives to connect to their communities by influencing issues and others with the power of compassion. Together, they deepen their understanding of what it means to engage compassion in a purposeful manner. Global change for our future is made active through community service and civic engagement.
In preparation for the 2008 Seeds of Compassion conference, the Dalai Lama requested to experience the rich diversity of the city of Seattle, including a meaningful interaction with youth. Students from different socioeconomic, racial, ethnic and religious backgrounds answered his call by coming together to become agents of compassion. This opportunity connected youth from various parts of the city who formed friendships across traditional barriers, encouraging them to explore the meaning of compassion not as a passive concept, but as an action verb.
