Lambeth is one of the most diverse boroughs in London. We have a long history of community activism dating back to The Chartist Movement in the 18th Century.
The Meeting at Kennington Common, 10 april 1848
We are at the very beginning of getting people on board to sign up to the charter and work together for a more compassionate Lambeth.
We had our first initial meeting, hosted by our local Impact Hub in Brixton (an international network that, “...provide the spaces, resources, connections, knowledge, talent, markets, and investment that turn intention into impact.” (taken from Where are Impact Hubs).
We had representatives from local voluntary groups and Public Health and local residents who use council services.
What is Compassion anyway? We asked and the amount of debate, thought and passion shown at the meeting meant that this will not be the last meeting but the first of many!
