Richmond Hill: Milk Bag Project

The founder of CYR, Sara Jamil, had been involved with the Milk Bag Unlimited Project for some time. She had brought it to the Parliament of Religions held in Toronto in 2018.

In Canada milk is typically sold in plastic bags that have 3 smaller bags of milk. This outer bag is a very strong plastic. It can easily be cut and woven into comfortable durable mats. These mats are made to sleep on, and are sent to disaster areas, third world countries and local homeless people.

CYR has been having demos at community events they have been part of. Plans are in the works to have regular weaving sessions at the Richmond Hill libraries.

This project epitomizes the goal of weaving compassion into the fabric of our community.
