Kendal, anciently known as Kirkby in Kendal or Kirkby Kendal, is a market town and civil parish within the South Lakeland District of Cumbria, England.
Kendal's Compassionate Community Initiative aims to improve the practices and policies surrounding climate change, particularly in regards to flooding.
Kendal Holds the Following Goals
- To link together volunteers and official agencies to act in advance of flooding and resilience plans.
- To change the rules of planning development and river management so that they take climate change into account and stop disadvantaging the poorest areas.
- To assist the most vulnerable once flooding has occured.
