Compassionate Sonoma is a community of practice - a ground roots initiative, starting in the City of Sonoma, California and extending through the valley and County of Sonoma. Sonoma is already an environment where civic and community organizations work with local businesses to create and maintain their history and strong sense of community. By showcasing our exemplars and best practices we hope to share and inspire others to become more compassionate in their everyday lives and in their communities worldwide.
The historic Sonoma Plaza hosts community events throughout the year, from an old-fashioned Fourth of July parade to a glitzy international film festival. Tuesday nights features live music and a certified farmers market where locals and visitors come out to picnic on the lawn and enjoy the local food and produce.
