noelNoël Canin
I was born during the Apartheid era in South Africa and left to live in Israel in 1968. Kibbutz Revivim in the Negev desert was my first home but since leaving in 1986, I have lived in various places in Israel.

I work as a BodyMind therapist according to the principles of Hakomi psychotherapy, which is based on the body, and principles of Buddhism – nonviolence, loving kindness, listening, and so on. In this context I am preoccupied with the issue of women’s power, how we acknowledge, define and own our own power, and I believe that through bodywork, dance and awareness of how life experience impacts our bodies, we can connect with who we are, how to heal, and take on our power in community with other women and men.

I am also a published poet and translator. I wrote this poem - One Billion Rising in the wake of the One Billion Rising events throughout the world and reading The Vagina Monologs by Eve Ensler. She inspires courage and the knowledge that we can heal, grow, take action and support others.
