Peace Tracks is a cross-cultural, music-focused online exchange amplifying global voices for peace through music, empathy and creative collaboration.
We are living in a world of conflict with few options to voice our vision for the future. Through collaboration with global peers on an original song, music video and livestream concert, Peace Tracks provides participants of all ages the opportunity to be exposed to diverse perspectives, build empathy and compassion, learn effective communication and share their collective voice for peace with the world.
Since 2021, Peace Tracks has worked with youth in the US, Ukraine, Lebanon, Palestine, Morocco, Jordan and Kazakhstan. We are currently working with youth in the US, Palestine, Morocco and Jordan through a US State Department grant. Our next session is with youth at the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan, refugee youth in Berlin, as well as refugee and non-refugee youth in other countries.
Participants collaborate to compose, perform, record, and produce original songs and music videos about issues they care about and the positive change they want to create in the world. Participants develop skills in communication, cross-cultural collaboration, songwriting, video editing, and creating, recording, and mixing music. Each Peace Tracks session culminates in a live-streamed concert featuring the original songs and music videos. Music experience is not required to participate in Peace Tracks. All that is needed is a phone or computer and access to the internet.
In this workshop, attendees will participate in a mini-Peace Tracks session by selecting themes, such as equity, inclusion, climate change, human rights, social justice and peace for their song, collaboratively writing lyrics for a short song, and creating a beat and vocals for their song using Soundtrap, a digital audio workstation.
