Working as a psychotherapist is my second career. I received my Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia in 2009. I have been practicing psychotherapy since that time. I maintain a license in good standing with the state of Georgia as an LCSW, licensed clinical social worker. I have worked mainly in a private practice setting but have also worked for a time as an addiction therapist in an outpatient treatment program.
Teaching Mindful Self Compassion has emerged from my own meditation and yoga practice. I am excited to be able to offer this course and share this life enriching knowledge.
I am also a registered Yoga instructor and have completed my 200-hour teacher training in Vinyasa Flow.
I maintain memberships in the following professional organizations: The American Academy of Psychotherapists, The National Association of Social Workers and The Georgia Society for Clinical Social Work.
Before returning to graduate school I had the privilege of working as a stay-at-home mom and stepmom. Some of my adventures during that time included running a small school lunch program, substitute teaching preschoolers, serving as president of a high school football booster club and volunteering with Dekalb County Family Court.
My undergraduate degree is in Broadcasting. I graduated in 1984 from Arizona State University. The department is now known as the Walter Cronkite School of Broadcasting. I have worked as a reporter, photographer, writer and assignment desk editor at television stations in Kingston, New York, Cape Coral, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia.
