This live, online dialogue will be co-hosted by Newsweek and AllSides, drawing on the proven Living Room Conversations format to bring together more than 10,000 participants for small-group discussions focused on understanding, respect, and reconciliation. Newsweek is supporting the initiative with 10 million media impressions to ensure broad public visibility and participation.

A National Dialogue to Bridge Divides

The event’s purpose is clear and urgent: to foster constructive dialogue across political and cultural divides, reduce hostility, and promote peaceful civic engagement. As part of a broader 2026 series of National Roundtables, the November 6 gathering will serve as both a national launch and a model for future in-person conversations involving community leaders, educators, and high-profile advocates for civility.

A Guided Conversation for Change

Participants will take part in facilitated, small-group conversations designed to encourage empathy and reflection. The structured Living Room Conversations format will include:

  • Introductions and Agreements – setting the tone for respectful dialogue
  • Round 1: Getting to Know Each Other
  • Round 2: Exploring Political Violence and Its Impact on Communities
  • Round 3: Reflecting and Looking Ahead

At the conclusion of the dialogue, participants will be invited to join the Living Room Conversations community, continuing their engagement in local and national discussions that build understanding and trust.

Voices of Faith and the “Third Side”

Organizers note the importance of diverse perspectives in this movement toward peace. Pastor Bob Roberts has been identified as a potential contributor offering a faith-based voice on reconciliation. Additionally, the event will highlight the idea of the “third side”—those in our communities who act as peacemakers and bridge-builders, helping to resolve conflict through empathy, listening, and civic cooperation.

A Step Toward a Kinder Political Culture

“The goal of this roundtable is not only to discuss political violence,” said [Organizer Name], “[but to empower people to see themselves as part of the solution—to replace fear and division with kindness, wisdom, and tolerance.]”

This initiative stands as a call to action: to reclaim the public square for dialogue, understanding, and democratic renewal.
