Mary Ann Boe
Mary Ann Boe is the lead coordinator of the Charter for Compassion's TLC (Talk, Listen, Connection) campaign. She facilitates introduction and train-the-trainer sessions and convenes the peer support groups. Mary Ann is a community weaver and grief companion whose expertise and passion comes from the 14-year care of her son Déva, who was medically fragile all his life. Déva taught her that to get through tough times, we need community. After her son's death, she founded The Cedar Cultural Center, with Deb Martin, a premier venue for global music and dance in Minneapolis.
As a healthcare visionary, Mary Ann co-founded the Journey Guide Project (JGP) - a transformative initiative that harnesses the science of compassion, connection, and story stewardship to address the critical gaps in today's mainstream healthcare. The JGP infuses purpose, honors the pain in grief, amplifies unified mind/body, supports patients/family, and navigates share decision making.
Mary Ann leads the Compassionate Communities UK movement in the U.S., forming the nation's first public health compassionate city through NicBluCares. Additionally, she fosters compassionate healthcare practices in her capacity as co-lead with the Charter for Compassion's Healthcare Sector Team.
