Uzair Ben-Ebrahim

Izzy Ben-Ebrahim is an educator, linguist, facilitator, visual artist, and spiritual activist. His passion lies in nurturing conscious dialogue and facilitating transformative education experiences.

With a rich background in education, Izzy has contributed to various initiatives aimed at fostering critical thinking and global awareness. From serving as an assistant lecturer for the Global Citizenship Programme at the University of Cape Town to designing conscientious curriculum content as an instructional designer for universities, he has left an indelible mark on learners worldwide.

Beyond traditional educational settings, Izzy is an experienced facilitator, engaging in discussions surrounding decolonization, faith, and social justice. His expertise has been sought after at international conferences, where he has shared insights on popular education and decolonial thought.

Central to Izzy's work is his commitment to interreligious dialogue and fostering understanding among diverse communities. As a KACIID Fellow and Executive Member for A Common Word Among the Youth (ACWAY), he has played pivotal roles in promoting harmony and cooperation across faith traditions. Izzy's dedication to bridging divides is evident in his involvement with initiatives like the Cape Town Interfaith Initiative and the Muslim-Jewish Interfaith Coalition, where he has facilitated meaningful conversations and built bridges of understanding.

Academically, Izzy holds a B.A., B.A. Honours in Hebrew Language and Literature, and a Post-graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Cape Town. His academic pursuits have led him to explore the intricacies of language and culture, culminating in a thesis examining the development of modern Hebrew through the analysis of ancient texts.
