Established in 2006 and with more than 20 years of fundraising experience, GK Grant Writing is a consulting firm that assists not-for-profit animal welfare, arts, and environmental organizations, as well as those serving people with special needs, with their grant writing requirements. Gail Koelln is the President of GK Grant Writing. As the former Development Director at Queens Theatre in the Park in New York City, Ms. Koelln has many years of experience researching sources of funding and preparing proposals and reports for foundations, corporations and government agencies. She also worked as the Grants Specialist for Queens Borough President Claire Shulman, where she provided technical assistance regarding fundraising to nonprofit organizations in New York City’s borough of Queens and processed grant awards from the Borough President to Queens nonprofits. Her more than 20 years of experience make her well suited to serve the needs of nonprofits looking to increase their unearned income through fundraising from public and private institutions.
Gail also has a Master’s degree in Zoology, a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a passion for environmental causes. She is a volunteer Climate Leader who trained under former Vice President Al Gore, the former Chair of Gotham Green, a business and social networking group for green businesses in New York, a former Chair of the New York City Sierra Club’s Endangered Species Committee and a former docent for the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Bronx Zoo.
