Durham Urban Innovation Center
The Durham Urban Innovation Center (DUIC) is comprised of four Living Laboratories. They are: Citizen Urban Design and Development Research Lab, Public Information Lab, Policy and DNA Lab, and Social Innovation and Education Lab. Each laboratory within the DUIC utilizes a six-step process to make positive change in Durham.
The six-step model includes:
Diagnosis (what problem is being solved?)
Idea Generation (aligning ideas with planning)
Test (idea implementation, ideas as prototypes)
Idea Sharpening (resource identification, making ideas sustainable)
Scaling (replicating ideas)
Change (ultimate goal = innovation, impact)
