First Trimester 2026
The Compassion Transformation Institute’s course offerings are designed to support inner development, relational capacity, and compassionate action. Together, these courses reflect the Institute’s commitment to integrating science, spirituality, lived practice, and social engagement, while meeting learners where they are—personally, professionally, and culturally.
Cognitive-Based Compassion Training (CBCT®)
Developed by Emory University Center for Contemplative Science and Compassion-Based Ethics, Cognitive-Based Compassion Training (CBCT®) is an evidence-based program grounded in neuroscience, psychology, and contemplative practice.
CBCT® helps participants:
- Cultivate emotional awareness and self-regulation
- Strengthen empathy and compassion for others
- Reduce stress and reactivity
- Build resilience and ethical clarity
The course emphasizes secular accessibility while drawing from contemplative traditions. It is especially valuable for educators, healthcare workers, activists, leaders, and community builders seeking sustainable compassion in demanding environments.
ProSocial Spirituality Courses
ProSocial Spirituality courses explore how inner values, spiritual wisdom, and collective well-being intersect. Rooted in evolutionary science and values-based group dynamics, these courses help participants translate spiritual insight into cooperative, ethical action.
Participants learn how to:
- Align personal values with collective goals
- Foster trust, belonging, and accountability in groups
- Apply spiritual principles to social and organizational life
- Bridge inner transformation with systemic change
These courses are particularly relevant for faith-based organizations, interfaith initiatives, nonprofits, and community leaders seeking to strengthen cohesion and shared purpose.
Harmony of Humanity (Charter-Designed Course)
Harmony of Humanity is a signature Charter for Compassion course that uses music, story, and cultural expression as pathways to compassion, understanding, and belonging.
Through curated global music, reflective dialogue, and guided inquiry, participants:
- Explore compassion through diverse cultural lenses
- Deepen empathy and cross-cultural understanding
- Experience how the arts foster connection and healing
- Reflect on shared humanity amid difference
This course appeals to a wide audience and is especially effective for community groups, educators, and those drawn to creative and experiential learning.
Essence of Compassion (Self-Directed Course)
Essence of Compassion offers a foundational exploration of what compassion is—and what it is not. Designed for self-paced learning, the course introduces core concepts, reflective practices, and everyday applications.
Participants explore:
- Compassion as a universal human capacity
- The relationship between self-compassion and compassion for others
- Barriers to compassion and how to work with them
- Simple practices for daily compassionate living
This course serves as an accessible entry point for individuals new to compassion studies or seeking a gentle re-grounding.
Science of Compassion (Self-Directed Course)
Science of Compassion examines compassion through the lens of neuroscience, psychology, and social science. The course explores how humans are wired for compassion and how compassionate behavior can be strengthened and sustained.
Topics include:
- The neuroscience of empathy and compassion
- Stress, trauma, and compassionate response
- Compassion in education, healthcare, and leadership
- Research-based practices for cultivating compassion
This course is particularly valuable for educators, practitioners, and learners interested in evidence-based approaches.
Embodied Presence
Embodied Presence is a special offering inspired by the teachings of Eckhart Tolle and Kim Eng, focusing on awareness, presence, and the intelligence of the body.
This course invites participants to:
- Cultivate grounded presence and stillness
- Develop deeper body awareness
- Recognize habitual patterns of mind and emotion
- Experience compassion as an embodied state, not just a concept
Embodied Presence complements all other Institute offerings by strengthening the inner capacity to remain present, receptive, and responsive—especially in times of stress or conflict.
An Integrated Learning Pathway
While each course stands on its own, together they form an integrated learning ecosystem—supporting transformation at the levels of self, relationship, community, and systems. Participants may engage in one course or move through several, building depth and continuity over time.
These offerings reflect the Compassion Transformation Institute’s core belief:
Lasting social change is rooted in inner transformation, relational wisdom, and compassionate action.
